I was looking for a cheap but nice hotel arond Kyoto and I came across this hotel. We had a Japanese style room, no bath (had to use hotel public bath), but toilet with washlet inside the room. Water heater, hair dryer, TV (I don't know why but the channel can only be view in the morning). The hotel was... More

With a perfect location in Kyoto, this hotel is friendly like a family ryokan. It has very confortable and large Japanese style rooms. Staff is so helpfull and devoted. Do not miss the Japanese breakfast nor the onsen. Very quiet except when a bunch of American teenagers had their stop over. There are plent of delicious restaurants around. Shopping and... More

In search of a new place to stay after making the mistake of staying at a gueshouse, i saw hotel iroha and inquired for room rate. I was told 7350¥. Upon checkout i was charged 14700¥. Apparently the receptionist quoted me a per head rate. The hotel is quite old and has a funny smell, its only salvation is being... More

We stayed here for three nights at the start of our holiday - caught the train from Osaka directly to Kyoto- and stayed in Japanese room (four in a room). The whole experience was excellent. The service set a standard that was a benchmark for our three week Japan holiday. The onsen was excellent and the location was fantastic- easy... More

We stayed in a Japanese style room with bathroom & shower for 1 night. We also added on the Kaiseki dinner (which did not taste very fresh ) In summary, Iroha is not a good value for the money. I have not figured out why the other reviewers (many with kids) feel this is a good value. If you want... More

I travelled to Kyoto with my teen age children in order to see my father, who had started to live in a senior community near Mt Hiei. Even though we only had a 1/2 day to see Kyoto at all, we were able to visit the Golden Pavillion, Kiyomizu Temple, Ninen-zaka, Sannen-zaka, Yasaka Shrine, and Gion District. We could spend... More

Booked ryokan from their main website: [-] We paid only 11340 yen per room with toilet and bathroom but without breakfast, which is a 40% discount from the usual price due to semi-low season. Had a number of public hot bath facilities with very well-equiped amenities in the hot bath room. Room comes with a balcony, a separate toilet cubicle... More

It may look western and ordinary on the outside but we had a huge Japanese-style room, the Japanese buffet breakfast was vast and delicious and we visited the communal baths every night. I would recommend this hotel if you want the Japanese experience. Don't miss the green tea ice cream at breakfast in the freezer chest. They also do western... More

My family (including 3 children) enjoyed our stay here, especially the traditional tatami mats, futons & yukatas. They forgot to leave children's yukatas until our last night, but my 2 young daughters thought they were fantastic nevertheless. We only stayed here for a few nights so we didn't get to explore the area as much as we'd have liked, but... More

We booked directly with Hotel Iroha via the Internet and were pleased at their quick and efficient response (in perfect english as well). The didn't request a credit card for confirming the reservation which we thought odd but there was no problem with our confirmation when we did check in. The hotel is about a 20 min bus ride from...
