If you are expecting hotel comforts, then I wouldn't recommend this place (if you are after that in Kyoto in this location you will need to pay almost double the price!). But if you are after a brilliant location, with very lovely hosts then this is the place for you. Since its likely you will be out most of the... More

Stayed over here for 2 nights because the hotels in Kyoto are all full due to some sort of holiday/festival. I will not stay at this hostel again because of its price (US$120). The good things about this place are: 1) it is very close (about 5 minutes walk) to Kyoto Station and Kujo subway station ( 烏丸線 - 九条駅)... More

This was the least enjoyable lodging experience we've had in Asia, and certainly in Japan. Good points: about 10-15 minutes walk from the train station, across the street from a convenience store, and had wi-fi. Skeleton staff was friendly enough. Another reviewer deemed the use of the term "Ryokan" for this lodging as insulting, and think they are exactly right.... More

I stayed here for 4 nights last December whilst on holiday in Kyoto. I had heard that accommodation was generally very expensive in the city, so I was pleasantly surprised to have found one that was reasonably priced, that charged per person instead of per room (I was travelling solo), was very near Kyoto station, had free wi-fi and came... This hostel is located within a 5-10 minute walk from Kyoto Station, but ~ 45-60 minute walk from most of the historical locations in Kyoto (wear your walking shoes or take the train or bus). The room and en-suite private bathroom were clean, but smelled like cigarette smoke (which may have been due more to the location, than the facility).... More

The staffs was very nice, some of them can speak fair English. Rooms are really small but clean as well as bathroom. I am a small asain girl but I feel it's too small. No amenity in the bathroom except body soap. The elevetor also small, Two people can go together with one luggage. Fifteen minutes walk from Kyoto station.

The bedsheets were dirty (on both sides!). The floor was dusty, and since we had to sleep in futons, that sure didn't help. The bathroom had mold and hairs in the tub! We were only too happy to find another hotel with a vacant room 10 min walk from there (even though that meant paying one night cancellation fee)

Unfortunatly I had to spend 4 nights in this hotel. The room was very dirty and staff was crude. The hotel is located on a main road and noise from trucks passing by was unbarable. Worst hostel I have been in in Japan.

We booked our stay with Seiki Ryokan 2 months prior to our trip there, after arriving by train from Tokyo to Kyoto, we turned up at the ryokan only to be told that our reservations had been cancelled! apparently the owner had received a call, and had mistakenly assumed it was us cancelling our reservations. initially we were told that...
