Been here once in 2015 during my solo trip. After staying here , I feel that I must bring my family here someday. And I did! My family of 5, 2 A and 3C aged 13,10&9 stayed in the Japanese style room from 09-11 June. It's off peak timing so not many ppl are staying here. We get to enjoy the peace and quiet. What's good abt this hostel ? Cleanliness is at its best. The shared bathroom, toilets areas are in top notch cleanliness. You can't find in other youth hostel. The communal onsen area is well maintained and clean. Everyone who use the area has the responsibility to keep it clean and tidy. And am glad that everyone is doing it well. Everyday between 10am to 3pm, u cannot stay in your room as the staff has to clean your room. Common area: kitchen and living area is shared and very cosy place for us to hang around. U can rent games like Uno, jenga from the front desk for free to play with your family. There is also an outdoor balcony area where u can just sit there and enjoy the breeze. The whole compound is at a residential area. So it's serene , peaceful and quiet. A very zen place. I was originally afraid that my kids who are city kids would be bored here... But they actually loved it. Especially making their own cup noodles dinner at the kitchen. There is no TV at the room we stayed , so we went to the kitchen area to watch TV and snack. Like all other YHA, u will be given bedsheets and pillowcase to make your bed and have to return them back to the front desk upon check out. The nearest JR station is abt 5-7mins drive away. It's so nice to come back again. …

Lovely hostel in upmarket suburb of Kyoto. Place to relax and unwind, with modern facilities including Japanese bath. Only issue is the location which is a bit far. Activities each evening guests can join in with.

I stayed here for 5 nights with my friends having workshop. It was a really nice place, very clean, and the food was amazing. the only thing i did not like is it's quite far from the center of Kyoto and wifi was a bit slow. but what i like is how they kept this hostel very quiet. if you went to Japan and didnt try the Onsen, then you definitely missed the best part!

This hostel is great in architecture and equipment. We had a twin bed room and a bulk beds room for 4 and both were very clean and confortable. The buffet breakfast is good but always the same every day. The common bath area is clean and pleasant. Staff speak good English. Some were very helpful others not friendly at all not even smiling or willing to help. We arrived in the early morning from Tokyo by night bus and asked for being allowed to have a bath even for additional fee but they refused! We had ti walk 30 minutes ti an onsen (Tenzan onsen which is just great) but still we needed to hang aorund during almost 2 hours before we could have a bath while we could have been allowed to have a quick natb at the hostel. That would have been so helfpful for us. But no. The hostel is great for North Kyoto sights (Rhiannon and Kinkakuji) or even Arahiyama but about 45 min/60 min from other main attractions in central Kyoto. Be sure to buy the daily bus pass to trae around otherwise it will be expensive. Be sure to bring food or to have dinnered before coming back as the restaurant offers means a 15/20 minutes walk again if you're hungry. After 8/9 pm be prepared for McDonald's or KFC after a long walk. Good accommodation but a bit far though. …

I love this hotel so much. But, the location is too far from Kyoto Station. There's no free towel and toiletry, you should provide by yourself. The staff provide Kyoto City Bus One Day Pass if you want sightseeing Kyoto with bus ❤

Although it is a long bus ride (~45mins to 1 hr depending on traffic) from Kyoto Station, I really appreciated the peacefulness of staying here for my four days in Kyoto. It was a good base, and I took many different buses to explore the city. You can get to Arashiyama easily, and the Golden temple too. While I was the only female gaijin traveller with little spoken Japanese, I felt welcomed & I met many retired Japanese travellers willing to speak English with me. The facilities are clean, the meals are delicious (esp. the evening meals), the shared bathing facilities are warm & clean (I didn't discover there were separate showers until my final day), the laundry is cheap, and the staff are very helpful. The shared dorms are tidy, with plenty of room in the lockers for storage. The curtains around each bed give privacy, and you also have two shelves & a light to read. The beds are comfortable & the duvet/comforter is warm. I must have been lucky compared to previous reviewers, as this place was very quiet when I stayed, and the wifi was fast, and the weather was good (cold but fine). I would definitely stay here again, and just allow more time each day for travelling in/out of central Kyoto, or perhaps I could have rented a bicycle for more independence. …

This hostel was clean yes, had good facilities, and staff spoke good English. But I have never had a worse experience at a hostel. There was a group of high schoolers staying at the hostel at the same time, which is fine, but the noise was so unbelievable loud and was consistently untill past midnight! Absolutely nothing was done by staff to control the noise. There was groups of them talking outside the bedroom door, lots of moveme throughout the hall way and the constant banging of a sliding door maybe 35 plus times. Obviously I cant tell them to be quiet because I don't speak japanese. It should have been the responsibility of the staff to make sure every guest was comfortable. The hostel also advertised itself as a place to meet other travelers. Not only did I not meet anyone, I was put in a room with 5 other 65 year old japanese women. I have never regretted a stay this much before. The street would have been quieter.…

This is a very nice hostel with a great hospitality. The staff is really kind and helpful. We stayed in a separate room with nice beds and locker for four people. Clean bathrooms with onsen. Towel for cheep rental. Simple breakfast, but okay. Loved the place. Really good value for money.
