We took almost 20 minutes to locate Kinsuikan Ryokan when we first reached Karasuma-oike Station as I had carelessly forgotten to print a detailed map of the area. The ryokan is located along one of the small streets in the entire area. The counter staff's service was barely passable. They did not do anything wrong nor did anything good stand... More

The location of this place can't be beat in Kyoto. Right in the central part of the city. Rooms are Japanese style and can fit up to 5 people, albeit tightly. If you have large luggage, forget it. Some rooms have private baths. There is a shared bath in the basement. This is very spartan accommodation, but comfortable. Prices are... More

About 20 min walk from JR Kyoto Sta. Quiet place but near shopping streets and for example the Nijo-castle. Room was small but charming and comfortable. Breakfast was very good and filling (japanese style). Staff was really nice and helpful! Would definitely go back.

This is more a budget hotel than a Ryokan given the number of rooms, but it's traditional style. It's a bit oldish but decent, has japanese-style rooms with private bath and WC, and a fridge. It's well located if you wish to be in the city center, with immediate access to Kyoto Museum and many restaurants and shops (including a... More

We have a twin room with private bath and stayed for a few days....the overall feeling of this ryokan/room was dark and old. The place needs a serious make over as carpets and walls were noticeably stained and worn out. Our room was reasonably large but the bathroom has a mouldy wall and it was considerably smaller than other Japanese... More
