Location is nothing flash, place is old/tired with some road works nearby for new Metro system. Bfst is OK at best but don't be late nor ask for anything as they don't care! Our bathroom was terrible, it stank something dreadful as water would not go down in shower drain and staff had to assist several times with the plunger.... More

I walked in without a reservation and got a nice, large room without a view (neighbors wall) for a reasonable price. The room was quiet, on the second floor, free bottled water, tea facilities, bathroom was clean, all amenities at disposal, even a pack of condoms?! Breakfast could be a nice buffet, but it wasn't. OK, I arrived only 30... More

This hotel has 24 hour construction going next door which is why I am writing this at 4am. I think I actually prefer third class sleeper on a Chinese train at least you know what you are getting. It more of a hostel with hotel styled rooms. It's a shame as there's good places to eat nearby eg we had... More

We stayed here as part of a tour package. The hotel exterior looks somewhat dull and run-down when we checked in but we were pleasantly surprised by the size of the room. The room has a nice sitting area with two sofas, and two huge beds. The beds are a little firm but still better than the typical chinese beds.... More

China Overseas Travel, the travel agency inside the Camellia hotel, provided us a car with driver for our 10-day trip Kunming-dali-lijiang-shangri la and back. It was aweful 1/ We asked the agency to give us a car with enough room for 8 people and luggage. The car we had was too small with small trunk. We also ended up paying... More

I had miss my plane to Vientiane Laos. I can't not buy the next plane in the Airport at China Eastern counter because they only sell domestic.( can you believe that). So I went to Book myself a seat at Lao airline inside Camelia hotel. The office was not open. So I decide to check in this hotel and wait... More

I have no hesitation in recommending the Camellia Hotel, flash and modern it is not, and yes a little quirky (we like quirky!), but the standard deluxe rooms are large, light and airy, and the older rooms still have a bath, what luxury! I prefer the rooms at the front of the hotel, ideally 5th floor or higher, as the... More

Pity there is no option between Average and Very good. Let's say it's good. One of the good points : their webpage offers a 50 % discounted rate which makes this hotel super competitive in terms of price. Also, location is very good. What is not so great is that the hotel is quite out of date, although there is... More

We came back to the same room 2 weeks later for 1 night and the... More

Stayed here twice, about 5 days apart. Our first room seemed in need of a good vacuuming and the shower curtain was covered with mildew. However, during our second time there a few days later our room (just a few doors down from our previous room) was immaculate, including the shower curtain. So it seems to depend on the room... More
