We stayed here for 3 nights as part of our Trans-Manchurian train trip. The hotel has a lovely foyer, with an internet room which was helpful, and bodyguards guarding the lifts. Very strange environment... The rooms though... well, where do I start? We stayed on the 3rd floor, which is marked as economy. There is always a lady on duty... More

Centrally located, easy walk to everything, but the room we had was only 5 out of 10. Very average bedroom and bathroom. But if you only needed somewhere to sleep that was very basic, then this is your place.

This hotel has a great location on the main square and within walking distance of the main shopping street. The rooms were small but clean and comfortable. It was nice to be able to open the door to the balcony and get fresh air. They do charge to hold your luggage after check out time.

Hotel was in a GREAT location ... staff is strange and unwelcoming, there are thugs that guard th elevator. Rooms are bare and not too comfortable. Breakfast was a little strange and not tasty. They asked originally if we wanted a room facing the square or the back of the building, warning that the room that faced the square could... More

This hotel really sucks. Staff is unfriendly and forgets all English when there are issues. If you want to pay with American Express be prepared to fight over it (they don't take it). Rooms are really smelly and small (cigarette smoke + air freshener = very bad), the TV is tiny, bath robes and other comforts that are advertised on... More

Stayed in August 2011 as part of the Transmongolian trip with Russia Experience. The room was ok in size and fairly clean. However there was no hot water either in the evening or the folllowing morning which automatically gets a thumbs down from me I'm afraid - provision of basic facilities should be a given. The staff were quite surly... More

Angara is superbly located -- it faces the main city centre. It is tourist-friendly, has an ATM in the foyer, a popular bar called London Pub. The rooms are small but functional. It's definitely a soviet-style block of a hotel and part of the charm was to stay in one. Free wifi in the foyer as well.

We paid 3 star rates for a room in Hotel Angara in Irkutsk, East Siberia, via Sokol Tours. We got one that had no air conditioning, dirty gray sheets, dirty floors, a bathroom that was the shower cubicle, a passage way with peeling paper and holes in the wall, no fridge. We were also given a second class dining room... More

This place is the worst for customer service in all the hotels we stayed at in Russia. When booking our hotels, we asked for mid-range three star hotels. We paid about $120 for a dingy, smelly, dark room, that was accessed by a dark hallway with very worn carpet and smelled like someone's left-over chicken dinner from a month ago.... More
