I stayed at the Russ Hotel recently for three nights with a friend. The hotel was clean and simple, but the rooms became very hot and were difficult to cool down. Breakfast was a good variety. Location is ok - a bit of a walk to places, but for the price was ok.

overall this place is not bad for the price compared to other more expensive variants, few amenities but who wants to stay in hotel anyway PLUS location is good, from here you can walk to nevsky or the river or both in fact anywhere , its just off a road (which leads to nevsky called liteiny prospekt) which has shops... If you want something nice stay at the grand hotel Europe!!! I lived here for 10 months and , after training the maid and some others got decent service. True, it is of Neo-Stalinist architecture and ammenities but most of the people we helpful and it was clean, of course this was in 1994!!!!!!

We were a group of 30 here. Rooms all hot! Ours was about 90 degrees. Open windows doesn't help. Mosquitos are a big problem. Staff is no help. Schedule for Marinsky Theatre? no.
