Located in Central Yuzhno The hotel is no 5 star but the basic requirements are perfect, large rooms set up as Small apartment with M Wave, Fridge and dining area Food in the dining room Excellent hit the Shrimp, as a powerful!! starter The general area around is safe and not to un-nerving after dark local shops and facilities within... The hotel looks quite run down from the outside and the interior looks tired (not surprising as it is of the Soviet era). My room was a reasonable size and reasonably furnished. Noise insulation was poor and I was kept awake by road noise plus a lot of commotion (doors slamming, footsteps, plumbing systems) in the hotel every night. Earplugs... More

We would stay at the sapporo either on route back to OPF (Lunskoy) 2008 or a short stop over before flying home. I always found the staff to be extremely helpful. The front desk staff always had a smile and always willing to help. If you know a few russian phrases it helps break the ice. I cannot say a... More

I found very little wrong with this hotel. Having read previous reviews I was not expecting the quality and service that I received. The monolithic exterior of Sakhalin Sapporo hides a well decorated and well maintained interior. My room was large, nicely furnished and with a good, clean bathroom. Several English language TV channels were available. Internet access is available... More

Plus - Very close to commercial town centre, railway station, civic amenities, restaurants & banks. Negative - Bit old style, Still in soviet mind state, People know little english, no much food choice (vegetarian) at its restaurant, Very old electric system (frequent power cuts, no proper heating). I first stayed in this place back in 2004, when I made a mental note to avoid staying here again. So it was with reluctance that I found myself returning four years later after my usual hotel (the Mega Palace (not currently listed in TripAdvisor)) was fully booked up. I have to say though that my latest stay was not... More

It was a bit shocking to see the building as I arrived at the place but it was alright as I walked in. Staff dont speak English. Luckily the receptionists speak a bit of 'Russian English'. Staff were not friendly and not very helpful with finding my way around. The restaurant is good, breakfast menu changes everyday. Good selection on... More

I stayed at the Sapporo on 2 occasions. Second time for almost a month. August was unusually hot and the room didnot have a/c or a fan. Opening the window was an option but the street noise was normally waking you up. Entertainment and facilities: The television channels for western people were almost non-existent. No facilities available except the restaurant... More

Stayed here about 3 times. Of course not comparable with a 5 star in Paris, but definitely the best on Yuzhno Island. Excellent dinner. Average Breakfast. Good rooms although bathrooms look a bit outdated, but still charming. More intended for business travelers no need to say. More
