Hotel is situated in one of 7 Stalin's teeth = Stalin's 40-50's sky scrapers just ~ 100 m walk away from the metro station Mayakovskaya and 2 stops away from Teatralnaya metro Station (next to Read Sq and Gum). Around the hotel there are shops, restaurants, theatre etc. Entrance hall was fine with reception, luggage safe, ATMs, business centre...

The location isn't far from Red Square (2 stops away on metro). However, our room was in bad need of a remodel and it was very musty and smelled smokey. The mattress was the worst I've ever seen in a hotel. It was so dented and lumpy I felt like I was sleeping on moon craters. The front desk personnel...

The location was the best thing about this hotel, the security staff were not very pleasant and almost threatening. The reception staff were pretty helpful and spoke good English. The worst thing was the smell of cigarette smoke in the hallways. Room pretty old soviet style. The restaurant next door where you could have breakfast, radio city is appauling the...

Location is very convenient, very central, close to underground Mayakovskaya, Stuff at the reception desk very friendly. Security has a very strong presence in the lobby, very unpleasant. Rooms clean and spacious, Decoration is very Russian and I don't mean it positive. Room are full of a small carpets which do not serve any purpose, just annoying. The most irritating...

Maybe they could transform the receprion which is not so cosy, but the building is pretty nice and mostly well managed inside. The rooms are mostly nice and really clean. 5 min from metro. I didn't need more for 4 days vacations
Stay at this hotel quite often - only because of its location (and my company preference)
Three main impressions:
- awfully stinky (cigarettes and old carpets)
- tiny TVs
- doors to the bathroom that do not want to open and let you out
Main advantage - location. Close to theatres and city center.
Price is too high.

I have spent 3 nights in Peking, in January 2012. The hotel is quite average with the sort of old Soviet charm. As there was pretty cold in January (even -30 C in the early evenings) after reading some reviews on TripAdvisor on lack of the heating in the rooms I have specifically asked the hotel few days prior to...

Stayed 2 Nights.
HOTEL: Very conveniently located 20 Minutes walk down Tverskaya to the Kremlin. The Peking is a cheap alternative to overpriced Hyatt, Marriott, Novotel for those looking to go back in time and willing to experiment a true experience while in town.
ROOM: Following the disappearance of the Intourist, Rossyia & Ukrainia - The Peking is the last...

Peking hotel is centrally located between the Kremlin & BeloRusskaya station. The architecture is definitely soviet and it gives this hotel a special charm. The suit I rented was comfortable and furnished with soviet era style furniture. It reminded some Soviet Bloc countries before 1990. But everything was of good quality, clean and up to today's standards.
Why average ?...
