The Lae Inter is definately not worth the outlay, although there is nothing better in the town. The hotel in general hasnt been renovated since the opening in the late 80's so alot of areas require attention. The restaurants are very lack lustre but will keep you alive. This hotel has not been updated since probably the mid 1980's, the rooms are very old and in need of major upgrade. Expect to pay big dollars and get nothing but a 2 star hotel. Lae International was very safe and quite comfortable. Beautiful grounds and architecture. Staff services are struggling and cafe/dining is rather limited. But it's far better than the Melanesian.
