I remember when I was a kid in 1975. My father Mokhtar Zerhouni known as a hero in that town, we were treated very well. I went back in 1991 and I was treated like a king without knowing who I was. People are very nice in a extaodinary location. I LOVE ESSAOUIRA, CITY OF THE WIND AND FRESH FISH... More

Liers. My parents saved money for 3 years to come and visit me here and this hotel ruined their first impression of Morocco and hurt our relationship. I called the hotel several times to confirm our reservations to ensure two things: that we would have nice rooms with a view of the ocean and would have quiet at night. Our... More

We arrived at Essaouria for four days of our holiday after staying in Marrakesh for eight days and it was certainly alot quieter here. We travelled with Supatours, a very pleasant and comfortable journey. The barrow men descended on you as soon as the coach arrived which was a little intimidating but as we knew the hotel was only a... More

We were stuck for a place to stay and were so tired after a tonne of travel that we settled on this one. Positives: It's on the beach, close to the medina and has wifi in the lobby. There is also a bar/lounge and a pool. AC in room. Negatives: The room had a huge sewage drainage issue so the... More

Arrived in Essaouria via Supratours and was aware that the 'barrow boys' would be waiting-no taxi's at the bus station, so you have little choice unless you want to drag your luggage yourself! Walked a few minutes around the corner to Des Iles Hotel. Greeted by some extremely friendly and smiling receptionists. Shown immediately to our rooms, which were still... More

We decided to head to Essaouira for our last night in Morrocco after spending time in Marrakech then heading through the mountains to the desert and back to M'kech. It was heaven to escape M'kech and we arrived using the Supratours bus and just went to the Tourist info office just inside the Medina and decided on a nice hotel... More

We used the pool and gardens at Des Isles during our stay in Essaouria at a cost of £5 each for the day which was extremely good value and all non-guests are able to do this. The hotel was very lovely with pleasant flower beds and garden area around the large pool. It was extremely breezy when we were there... More

We turned up at this hotel late in the day when our Riad in the medina had fallen through, we were drenched through to the bone and the baby was crying and hungry - basically, it was our last hope. We asked how much it was, and, even though we knew the price quoted was ridiculous (£70!), we had no... More

This is a really bad hotel. The main reception staff were extremely rude and overcharged us for our stay and just shrugged their shoulders when challenged. They couldn't care less. The rooms are reasonably large and clean but basic and poorly maintained. It wasn't possible to lock the external balcony windows in ours. For even half the price per night... More
