By Manolo We found the place by recommendation of the owner of the previous riad in Marrakech and by the time we looked at the rooms and specially the view of the terrace we just couldnt think of somewhere else with more value for money than dar skala. The rooms are really good size filled with the necessary decoration to... More

Jorge´s place is simply beautiful. The rooms are simple, yet stylishly decorated and they make you feel very much at home. The roof is spectacular! We spent every morning (for breakfast) and every evening (for sunset) up there. You can´t really get a better view in Essaouira. Jorge is genuinely interested in his guests, and he sat with us each... More

We stayed for 3 nights at Dar Skala. We loved the rooftop patio. Starting the day with breakfast and ending it watching the sunset was just perfect. Jorge was a great host; helpful, yet unobtrusive and provided us with lots of information on Essaouira upon our arrival. Luna is a lovely dog. The place is not fancy, but it is conveniently... More

Four of us stayed for just 1 night in two charming rustic rooms, and the whole experience exuded character including our host and his beautiful dog Luna. We arrived in Essaouira at 9.30am and Jorge allowed us to dump our bags, even though our rooms weren't quite ready to allow us to go off haggling/shopping. He gave us a key... More

Our stay at Dar Skala was memorable for the location and the view from the rooftop. You cannot beat watching the sunset from that perch The rooms are nothing fancy, but charming (the bedroom with the balcony overlooking the street was my favorite). The communal area is quite homey, and welcoming. Being able to walk to everything was invaluable to... More

Stay here when you are in Essaouira (unless you hate/are allergic to animals)! Jorge is fab, such a nice person. The riad is attractive and homely, and while the bathrooms are not stunning they are fine, and the shower is good. Bedrooms are charming, and ours gave a great view of the street. The location could not be better: right... More

Jorge and his son Pablo run a wonderful bed & breakfast, located in Essaouira's beautiful medina. We had some trouble finding the place and we were hazzled by our local porters that Dar Skala was closed for the local holidays and to go instead with a much more expensive hotel. These porters help you to get your luggage to your... More

I got back from Essaouira a few weeks ago and keep thinking about it....we had a great time!! I went with 2 friends. One of them has stayed at Dar Skala several times; she goes to Essauoira at least once a year. Us 2 novices loved it too. It's a quaint old house in the very heart of the town.... More

Spent a week at Dar Skala. Enjoyed every minute! Jorge, the owner, is charming and helpful. Speaks French and Spanish, and enough English to offer advice on dining out and local information. Will meet you at a landmark local cafe and guide you to the B&B as it's a little hidden away. To have the superb view Dar Skala offers,... More
