Liz and Lars run a delightful guesthouse, in an idyllica location not too far out of Kuching, but it feels like another world. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we booked, and the kindness continued from our hotel pick up to the drop-off 3 days later. The guesthouse location is tranquil, cosy, and clean, and there is... More

Stayed here for 3 nights with family and friends and it was just an amazing experience. Lars and Liza made us all so welcome, nothing was too much trouble and the food was first class! Highlights were definitely the orang-utans, the jungle shopping and the kayaking. How they have made such a gorgeous house with guest rooms in the middle... More

Many many thanks to Lars and Liza! Myself and my girlfriend spent 2 nights here in March and could have spent much longer. It's one of the nicest places I've ever been and will be hard to top. Lars has done an excellent job building a perfect house in a perfect location away from the noise and madness of the... More

Stayed here for 1 night in March with my partner, and what a fabulous experience it was! Lars and Liza are fantastic hosts, and really made us feel part of their family. From the ease of making the booking via e-mail, to being collected from our Kuching hotel lobby, and on to the adventure, the whole trip ran totally smoothly.... More

Lars and Liza were the perfect hosts, right from the start we felt at home. Lars is the perfect driving guide and Liza the perfect cook and jungle guide. I am still dreaming of your Pandan cake Liza! :) We have told all our friends to go and stay there as we know everyone who goes would have the best... More

Before we even arrived in Malaysia, the communication with Lars and Liza (Hosts of Kurakura Homestay) was warm and welcoming. Their enthusiasm for our stay was as great as ours, and the information they shared beforehand had me well prepared. When Lars picked us up from our guesthouse, he instantly had our young boys at ease. Friendly conversation all the... More

We have just returned from spending two nights at the wonderful Kurakura homestay. Arriving by river makes you feel a million miles away from Kuching. Lars and Lisa were so welcoming and we felt thoroughly relaxed during the stay. Lisa's cooking is fantastic and definitely some of the best we had during our holiday, Lisa was also very accommodating and... More

When I look at the other reviews, I fully agree. We (me, wife and son) spent three days with Lars and Lisa at the end of our hollidays and I must say, Its worth every ringit. What a great family and such great hospitality. They did a great job by building their homestay in the middle of nowhere. This is... More

We stayed with Lars and Liza for one night at the end of our trip in Malaysia. Both hosts (and Freya their daughter) were very welcoming and great company to have. The journey from the small Bidayuh village to their homestay is something very special. The river you travel down is beautiful and it's really wonderful to see the local... More
