As I visited KK for the second time I choose another hotel. The first time I stayed in Gaya Center. I prefer the Jesselton as it has character. As I had to leave early the arranged a pre breakfast for me. As I came down at 6.30 am the hot fried eggs were on the table. The orange juice was... More

As a group of 7, we stayed here twice during our visit to Borneo. We enjoyed the old world ambiance of the hotel. The breakfasts were good. Rooms were clean, of decent size, and reasonably priced. The location is good - the Sunday market is just outside the door - and you can walk to any place in old KK.... More

The Jesselton was a charming hotel with old-world ambiance in a great loc in KK. Bar area with piano was very cosy and the Italian-themed restaurant as well. Didn't eat dinner there, but the cooked-to-order breakfast was good. Rooms were modern and clean, with effective, quiet, air con and good bathroom. Highly recommended. More

Booked this place because of all the positive reviews on Tripadvisor. This was the first time ever where we felt so disappointed that we checked out early even with a penalty on one night's stay. The rooms are so old, and dingy. It was depressing. This is the first hotel that I've ever stayed in where the hallways are nicer... More

Great hotel - stayed two nights. Friendly staff, nice decor all around- we found it very good value if you are looking for a few days of comfort after backpacking around the island. Very close to the pier and to the middle of town for the shops/ restaurants etc More

The hotel has nice atmosphere dating back to 1950's. Situated in the very center of Kota Kinabalu everything is close enough. We had Superior Double Room which was really classy and nice. Because I dive, I had booked the hotel via Downbelow Padi center and we got discount and free breakfast. Superb! Which by the way was also superb! The... More

I ate a curry with prawns here and got terrible food poisoning that put me in bed for 3 days... Considering that the cost of food here is 10 times the price of the cafes on the street I expected better... I would only eat in the small cafes in the street.... More

Really enjoyed our stay here. For the money it was an excellent stay and was hard to fault. The staff are exceptionally helpful and polite (i managed to lock myself our of the safe twice but each time they came to fix it within seconds and were simply happy to help). The rooms are larger and pleasant (for our usual... More

If you want to enjoy the city of Kota Kinabalu you are probably best served by staying at The Jesselton Hotel in the heart of Gaya street. The classy interiors welcome you as does the colonial clad doorman and thereon the smiles never end . The rooms are comfortable and will accomodate a third bed if you book a triple... More

We stayed just one night at the Jesselton Hotel, but is was very nice and comfortable. The bed was clean and not to soft or hard ...just right. The bathroom was clean as well, and I would alwas recommend the hotel for a short stay. Restaurants are close by, so you have in walking distance different food choices. We were... More
