One advice for all travelers - KEEP OUT OF THIS PLACE! Nexus Karambunai is definitely the last place you should choose to stay. I was there for 4 days 3 nights and by far it was one of my worst holidays. The resort totally ruined it for us, we choose to stay at the so-called luxury pool villas but it... More

Amenities grade:Pool Villas are 4 to 5 star. Location:The NEXUS is a giant hotel complex which is 30 KM from Kota-Kinabalu city. The main hotel is a bit dated and has about 5 or 6 restaurants to cater to all tastes. About 2 KM from the main hotel are the 60 nexus pool villas-All facing a private beach. These look new.... More

This is my fifth visit to the Nexus and it breaks my heart to say it, but it's absolutely terrible. The rooms are clean, as usual, but the resort itself has a very run-down appearance. The gardens are beautiful, I can't fault them on that. It's as though the management is trying to impress on appearance but not substance. The... More

The main resort had plenty of potential...15 years ago. Our room was basic clean...no more, no less. The staff not very motivated and the food ordinary and barely warm. The rooms had problems with water feed, the toilets did not flush for 3 days not due to blocage but water supply. The restaurants were expensive..I was offered a pound and... More

This hotel has a fantastic beach, lovely grounds and a beautiful golf course but the main hotel looks run down and appears very badly managed. We found the food and service poor and food and wine was very expensive. The staff are lovely and very pleasant but are clearly not well trained, motivated or supervised. We ate a number of... More

We had been travelling with 2 small kids since 4am and upon arrival at Nexus were made to wait for a further 4 hours while our villa was 'cleaned'. When we were finally allowed to enter, the villa was absolutely filthy and smelly - utterly disgusting actually. We had requested ahead of time for a baby cot and a high... More

Our stay had its fair share of the good and the bad. Good- Sabah hospitality, staff friendly, helpful and accommodating, got upgraded to Ocean View room, spacious room, has an expansive and quiet beach (even though hotel was almost at max capacity), well landscaped, quaint environs, dreaded mandatory CNY dinner turned out to be quite a pleasant surprise, MYR23 round... Certainly not a 4.5 Star hotel & very overpriced for what you get. The location is good but the resort is shabby, tired & unkempt. The bathroom supplies were very minimal. The restaurants offered very average food & lacked ambience. However the staff were very friendly. I would NOT recommend this resort. Advertised day trip unavailable. More

Maybe a 3 star but never a 4+ star. In need of TLC, broken tiles everywhere, taped up electrics, dripping taps & most of all the restaurants were over-priced. Penalised for not bringing your own laptop, RM6 charge for the Internet but free hard connection in room!! No wifi in room, so no good if you have iPad! Chaotic dining... More

Took my partner to a resort for the first time here. The check in staff were friendly and efficient. Resort amenities were basic but adequate. We whiled away our time by the pool, pool bar or the beach. The remoteness of this resort made it a welcome retreat, but a bit boring at night. I think that it would be... More
