Budget stay, but clean and comfortable rest. Funky bright lobby, colours and furniture. Nice to separate WC and shower, so no need to wait. Centrally located, walking distance to many F&B and shops. We can park our car just in front, with security.

Booked sweet room for a night's stay and throughly enjoyed. 2 King beds making up one gigantic playground for the kids. Bathtub was a bit flimsy but served us fine. Location is Surrounded by a ton of eateries which were decently priced as well. Will certainly consider a return stay just to explore more of the foods

Dear Keith, Thank you for your kind review. We are happy to hear that you had an enjoyable stay and the kids had a great time. The bed in the Sweet room measures 9 feet across, and it is a one-piece custom-made bed. For lack of a name for its kind, we called it the Sultan bed because it is bigger than the King. The F&B outlets here numbers in the hundred at least. The current fad is Taiwanese bubble tea, with over 20 different branded outlets you can choose from. We look forward to your return.

It was my first time exploring this part of JB. Boy where have I been missing? The location of hotel is very ideal, bbt stores in the vicinity, cafes, famous Thai restaurant (amphawa), shopping mall and entertainment sites. The hotel has a fancy and colourful lobby. I feel safe knowing there's a guard at the entrance. Front office was nice. The room I was assigned to have purple walls, is a decent size and have ample amenities. My sis & I felt comfortable and slept soundly. I would definitely return. Abit more exp compared to other nearby hotels but i dont mind, it's the ease to the nearby places.

Dear Sassysasaa, Thank you for your review. Glad you found us after 10 years of our existence. Never too late. Sutera Utama is constantly evolving with times, with new F&B entrants all the time. This time round, it's the Taiwanese bubble tea phenomenon, with over 20 different branded outlets springing up within less than a year. Thank you for your vote of confidence with our hotel personnel from the entrance to the front desk. Very very happy to hear that you're coming back. Do check out the other rooms types, especially the Vivid series which features our latest upgrade. As for price, we are actually not that expensive, if you can come during the low peak season, which is just normal week days really. Kind regards

Doorman made the property feels very safe. Staff were polite and smiling whenever we meet them in the lobby. Room#213 was clean and large for 2 guests, but will need to keep the windows shut when you leave the room as it's sort off exposed to the corridors. Other than the faulty room telephone, WiFi signal was intermittent at certain hours. One improvement is to use regular toilet paper rolls instead of the stacked type which tears too easily when pulling from the dispenser. Overall this is probably the best place to stay in Taman Sutera which is filled with hotpot and bubble tea establishments👍

Dear Ben, Thank you for taking time to provide us your kind review and the thumb-ups! We have noted your comments on the above with regards to the faulty intercom line, intermittent WiFi signal as well as the stacked type toilet paper. We trust you are spoiled with choices with the latest 3 best brand of bubble tea establishments just right opposite our doors, not to mention dozen more scattered all around. The Sutera Utama area is certainly a good choice to chill and relax and makan! Warm regards,

Good and friendly service. The room we stayed in was clean and very comfortable!! However, there is no place to dine in inside the hotel. But a shopping mall with a food court is very close to the hotel.

Dear Bay B, Thank you for your kind review! We are delighted to hear that you have enjoyed our service and found our room clean and comfortable! There is no lack of food options outside the hotel as there are over 70 or more F&B outlets all within 5 to 15 mins walk. Not to mention more food options in Sutera Mall which is also 5 mins walk away. We hope you can explore all these choices the next time you visit! Best regards.

A very short distance to the Sutera Mall and all you need is within walking distance (e.g. coffee shop, restaurant, bread, convenient shop). The staff is friendly, however, the room need some touch up and the sound proof is just average.

Just stayed a night with family, very close to eateries and sutera shopping mall. I opted for Sweet, but I realized it is good for couple , or couple with young kids unlike me with teenage kids. Area is very decent, even at midnight. Steps closer to great bar like JWC, bakery, coffee shops, sutera shopping mall. Avoid Broadway bar , which is just opposite to hotel, this bar is employed with all hard selling staff.

Dear Sudarsan_Pula, Thank you for your kind review, and once again highlighting how easy it is to find food near our hotel. Literally close to hundred of choices all within walking distances. Sweet Room is indeed geared toward couples or young family as the bathtub is open concept; the shower and toilet comes with glass walls. Other than that, it will be inappropriate for us to comment on the businesses of other operators. Best regards,

I’m writing this review using the hotel wifi from my Japanese tatami style room. It is very near sutera mall south car park. The lobby is nicely design and the room is pretty spacious. Yes I agree with the review on the bathroom flooding but it is only for a short stay so I can overlook this defect. The price is a bit on the high side because there is no Swimming pool facilities in comparison to some other hotels. There are many eateries here and is worth a visit.

Dear liliant, Thank you for taking time off even in the midst of your holiday to write us a review. Also thank you for noting the nice design of our lobby and finding the room spacious. We are about 5 minutes walk to Sutera Mall, a popular local mall crowded during weekends. We are also surrounded by over 80 F&B outlets of all sorts, all within 15 minutes radius of walking. In short, spoiled for choices. We encourage you to keep your eyes on the lookout for values during off peak season, you will be pleasantly surprised at the rates. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

I think it's only fair that a balanced review is given for any establishment that is being reviewed, so here are the PROS - front desk is friendly - room has good coffee making facilities - bed comfortable (except for one extremely hard pillow) with clean sheets - free to air SG and Msian tv channels - 2 complimentary bottles of mineral water - hot water for shower responsive - 2 sets each of toothbrush, toothpaste and shower cap. Shower gel, shampoo and hand soap provided. Bring your own bedroom slippers if you need. Now for the CONS - room in dire need of a make over - toilet floods during shower because the shower floor is neither sunken nor slants towards the shower sump so you have to keep using your feet as a paddle to sweep the water towards the sump while you're showering - wall tiles are cracked and soap dispensers are terribly dirty (see pix) - room safe didn't work so my husband called the front desk for help. Halfway speaking on the phone, the phone cord fell out! When he managed to plug it back in, the front desk had already hung up - the room safe couldn't be repaired so they replaced ours with the safe from the next room. That also didn't work. Interestingly, the instructions on the safe tells you how you can change the personal pin. Not a good idea as it means anyone can open the safe by simply following the instructions on how to change the PIN, while you have your personal belongings inside (see pix) - suspicious BIG stain on bed back board. One can only guess what it could be...(see pix) - aircon is either v hot or v cold. No mid level fan speed - only 4 car parking lots outside the hotel. If there are no lots, you'll have to park at the other lots that are open to the public, and pay for parking using the meter. Parking is charged from 8am to 6pm. If you come back at night and there are no lots, you'll have to park at other lots and wake up before 8am to pay for parking at the meter before the parking attendant makes his rounds at 9am (9am was informed by doorman) - upon checking out, we saw that cars were double parked on the opposite side of an already very narrow road. The doorman helped direct us out of our lot. It was our bad luck that we encountered the typical JB driver - angsty, impatient, selfish and downright awful. Instead of backing up, he purposely moved forward to block our way. He only needed to reverse about 2 meters but refused to let us pass. Instead of helping us speak to the awful driver, the doorman saw what was happening and CHOSE TO WALK AWAY. We ended up reversing almost 50 meters to let the awful driver pass. I guess the takeaway is, after you've checked out and paid, hotel staff don't have to help you. I'll be staying somewhere else when I next return to JB.…

Dear Julie, Thank you for your lengthy and detailed review with pros and cons plus pictures. We regret we have not met your expectations this time round. With regards to the points that you have highlighted, we shall re-visit the room that you have stayed (based on your pictures) and perform a deep cleaning on the toilet walls and bed board. We trust it will be a cleaner room for future occupants. We shall also review our deep clean program with the housekeepers for the rest of the hotel. The hotel provides Four FREE parking lots to guests on a first come first serve basis as you rightly pointed out. As in many cities in the world, parking is not free nor cheap. Parking rate is relatively affordable here at MYR0.60 per hour. We can only advise timing rounds of the parking attendant for your reference, but it is still the responsibility of car owners to ensure adequate parking hours coverage. We understand you had a bad encounter with another driver outside the hotel that spoiled your day. Whilst we always try with the best of intention to our best ability to assist guests in providing value services beyond even what higher-rated hotels provide, we do not expect our staff to work beyond their sphere of influence. Our bell boys will aid guest during parking, shelter you during rainy days, carry your luggage to your room, greet you as you enter or leave, open the doors for you and more. I trust they are hard-working and dedicated as many other reviewers and guests can attest to. We wish you all the best in your future visits to JB. (hopefully with more atypical JB drivers).

I have been J hotel for quite a lot of times, the place is cozy, mostly the room is playing with design. I have been live in 'TATA-MI' design, 'HANGING' design. Bur, it might some noise on Morning. Inside the room is clean, what I care is the toilet, it also clean! Surprise me! Aircon worked well. Nearby Sutera mall, you may also take grab to Paradigm Mall, just nearby only, the trip takes you about RM 7-12.

Cleanliness of rooms and toilets are not to be taken granted for -- a dedicated and hardworking team of housekeepers are making it so. Hope to see you soon, for we are sure, Paradigm Mall will take more than a few trips to complete.
