Quality hotels in Almaty are pretty expensive, so the best aspect about the Shera probably is that it offers value for money. Also, the cleanliness is pretty okay, I've seen much worse in Kazakhstan. the hotel staff is great, but the hotel itself is rather expensive... like the whole almaty. do not expect to get for your money the travel you may be used in US or EU. the internet is horribly slow and you won't be able to send your emails using outlook or other email clients because of unproperly administered proxyserver they... My wife and I had an awful experience at this hotel. Rooms were clean but showers were cold. Air conditioning did not work. Only received one towel a day. A group of us stayed at the Shera for 3 nights when in Almaty for the Kazakhstan v England football match. There are not too many hotel options in Almaty, most are either top end of the Mmarkey (Intercontinental/Hyatt) or the lower end (Hotel Kazakhstan/Kazhol) but the Shera provides a great option somewhere in the middle.
