Being a US born Japanese-American, I've become accustomed to western hotels and travel, but also have heard my mother, aunts and grandmother talk about the "onsen" (public bath) and sleeping on tatami mats. . . . . Needless to say, it was a very unique experience, between the onsen, sleeping on the floor and traditional Japanese breakfast. . . it... More

This is pretty much the cheapest traditional hotel you will find in the Hakone area. Its a very old building nestled in a picturesque valley. Overall we really enjoyed our stay, it was an interesting experience! Pros: Lovely large tatami room Fantastic public onsen Historic building Nice futons Air conditioning/reverse cycle/heatpump in room New TV in the room Super convenient... More

We booked a room with a private onsen bath as we wanted the experience of staying in a Ryokan. The hotel is not too fancy, the rooms does show its age a little, the bathroom is dated, but I spent so little time in the bath, so it didn't really affect me that much. The onsen was a much needed... More

We arrived with spa bus hakone yumoto station. the spa association staff has arranged us to us by this bus instead of public bus, due to our luggage with 13 peoples. a good gesture of them. and we can use our JR pass. the driver stopped us infront of the honkan, as been told by the staff. It's simple ryokan,... More

All Ryokan hotels in the Hakone area are expensive especially those with onsen baths. Many are over 1000usd a night. This was good value at around 320usd for 2 people with dinner and a private onsen set into the balcony. It is a bit scruffy and in need of refurb but if you dont want to spend an absolute fortune,... We were family of 4 with 2 small children. We had a room with a private outdoor onsen backing onto the river. This was very nice although bath not very large was big enough. Room was spacious and found the dinners very tasty and actually good value. They also provided kids meal for my 3 year old which he enjoyed.... More

Hotel is very near to a bus stop which is 2 stops from Hakone Yumoto station. But a bit far from Gora where all the attractions are located. Breakfast and dinner are included which is quite delicious especially the pork shabu shabu. Love the private outdoor hot spring bath which has a river view. But there is no hot water... More

The lobby and restaurant of this traditional ryokan are both top notch, as is the food. Our bedroom could have done with a lick of paint new bathroom fittings but the private outdoor tub was a great feature.

We arrived at 1145 via Odakyu Romance Car from Shinjuku Station and local hotel shuttle. The hotel is about 3 minutes from Hakone Yumoto station. The bus stop is about 50 yards past the hotel on the same side of the street. We purchased the Hakone Free Pass with our train tickets so we planned to drop a bag at... More
