It was raining, but the room was really small. I stayed at other Ryokans and they had a toilet in the room. This had nothing other than a thermos. The woman who runs it seems very, very nice. The location cannot be better. Easy walking to the castle and garden, shopping and restarurants.

We stayed here for 3 nights and found it a perfect spot for launching our exploration of Kanazawa. Bathrooms are shared, but perfectly clean. The very restricted time for breakfast availability was a shame, but there were decent places very nearby to grab a breakfast if you slept through. The instruction we got on how to use the local shared... More

this is the only ryokan that my mom (65years old) and my sis (37 years old) stays in our trip to japan. the whole experience is very authentic. however, my mom and sis were pretty uneasy about sharing bathroom, and the corridor of basins. Some people do not flush the toilet after they are done with the business, and it's pretty... We really enjoyed our stay at Murataya. It's very "homey" and the owner/manager(?) was extremely helpful. She booked the "ninja temple" tour for us and gave us our favorite Izakaya recommendation - Itaru (wonderful food, very friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere - the jazz club next door to Itaru was a lot of fun as well). Our room was fairly large... More

during our 2 weeks trip around japan, this was the first and only ryokan we stayed at, and we did not regret it at all, it was a very nice experience. the staff was very friendly and helpful, our room was of course quite small but comforable with a nice view to the small garden inside. the location is excellent,... We spent there just one night. The location of the Ryokan was excellent, less than five minutes to the Samuray district and ten minutes to Kenrokuen gardens. Nice service, and really clean but this is not an exception in Japan). I recommend it.

Murataya Ryokan is my first choice when visiting Kanazawa. The rooms are large and comfortable and the hosts are most kind and helpful. There are no ensuite bathrooms which leads to the occasional cheery exchange with your fellow travellers whilst brushing your teeth but I can't say that bothers me. Muratasan helped us to book a tour of the so... More

I stayed 3 nights with my family ( 2 adults and 2 small children). We had the family room which was the biggest we had in Japan (18 tatamis), that includes a small dining room separated by sliding doors and a full on view of the lovely small garden. The whole place is spotless, cosy, though the fittings are rather... More

A short bus trip [10 -15 mins] from the Railway Station this Ryokan was in a great location in the ‘downtown’ area, just off the main shopping street. Everything was spotlessly clean. The lady came out and wiped down the wheels on our suitcases before we took them to our room. The shared toilets were on both floors, so not... More

We had a lovely stay at this little ryokan with our family. The staff were friendly and while basic, the ryokan is also really charming. The shared toilet and bathroom were very clean and we enjoyed the Japanese shared bathing experience. Our room was large enough for all 5 of us, and the futons were very comfortable. The ryokan is...
