If you want to see remote parts of Thailand and experience the life of the villagers without seeing another tourist, then this is the tour to take. We (two couples) took a 5-day tour from Chiang Mai through Mae Sariang, Mae Hong Son and Pai in the middle of January. We visited several hilltribe villages, and felt that our guide, Pat, had a good understanding and relationship with the villagers.
