We stayed here for 3 nights during a recent trip to the area. We extended one night as we were enjoying the local sights. We arrived at kanchanaburi railway station with no accommodation pre booking and relied on the recommendation of the songteow driver. The trip for the 3 of us was 100 baht from the railway station to the... More

I tried the Pong Phen guesthouse when looking for accommodation options in Kanchanaburi, but I never ended up staying. The location is by the Kwai River, the price is reasonable and they have a pool, which didn't look as clean as it should be, but when a potential customer is treated with contempt by staff before they've even had a... We upgraded to a "Superior Thai-style bungalow" which was a wooden chalet across from the reception area. This was at the end of an alleyway, so we were not inside a hotel complex. It looked a bit like an afterthought. The room was clean with a comfy double bed, a/c and free wifi. Didn´t try the pool as we were... More

We stayed in a private bungalow on the property which was large, clean and had a hot shower (not every guesthouse in Kachanaburi does). The western breakfast was included and each morning we excitedly sat beside the Mynah bird cages trying to teach them new words and listening to them cat call and greet passersby with a 'Sabadi Cha'. Maybe... More

I had a second-floor room overlooking the pool for 1000 baht a night. Right by the river, quiet, restaurant is cheap and good food, while staff weren't hyper-friendly I actually quite prefer that as they were very attentive if I had any questions or needed some help. (I'd much rather have the staff act "real" than do some hyper-smiley act.)... More

This is a very good place to stay in a good location and very affordable at 500 Baht per night. Food and drink is good as are the rooms so I would definitely stay here again. Swimming pool is great as are the little seating areas outside each room. As other reviewers have said, the staff do appear to be... More

I traveled with my brother, and booked from Agoda for a Bungalow. Upon arrival to Kanchanaburi, they picked us up on a tuk-tuk to their property. The location is awesome. All the attractions are very closeby, and you can rent a motorbike that comes really cheap. The property is in a river bank, and nothing beats the feel of spending... More

When we arrived in Kanchanaburi we had pre-booked a hotel called Aurora resort, however on arriving it was still being built, so the tuk tuk driver took us to Pong Phen, which was an excellent choice. The hotel is right in the middle of town, but is the last property at the end of a small soi backing on to... More

I am a frequent traveller to thailand & i find this place to be the worst interms of staff hospitality. None of the staff ever care to smile. My husband requested from the receptionist (who seemed to be more interested to play her ipad) to extend the checkout time for 1/2 an hour from the normal 12pm, and his request... More

Second time here - great staff, food & clean rooms. Make sure you pre book as hard toget rooms now as popular. Some rooms more expensive than others but still worth the price.
