I found this place after being stranded in Hat Yai and didn't last more than two hours. Both the fan and the light in my room were broken, and staff refused to fix them. There was a strange stain on my sheets, and I made the mistake to peek inside the pillow cases and glimpse a very dirty pillow who's... More

so its inexpensive. the staff are friendly, the rooms are basic. i had a single room with a shower/toilet for about $5, and was perfectly happy with it. the dorm was pretty disgusting + smelly, and not much cheaper. if you have expectations beyond reasonably clean (by SE Asian budget travelers' standards) don't chose this place - you may be... The room was okay for the really cheap price. I had my clothes washed and it seemed okay. Beverages are cheap, and service is decent. On the downside- the squat toilet looked so gross, and emitted a foul smell that could be smelled from the bed. That was my strongest memory of the place, and that is still what I... More

This guesthouse is known because it is featured on several travel books. My friend who works for Rough Guide even visited here and featured it. I was stuck in Hat Yai for a night and found this cheap place. There's no available single bed room so I got the twin bed room for 200Baht. It is with fan, attached with... More

Let's be honest there's nothing to do in hat yai. You'll be there for 1 night max waiting for transport connections. The place is 2 blocks from the train station with daily trains to Bangkok or Malaysia. Room very basic but sheets and towels clean. Bathroom has the dreaded squat toilet but get over it, you're travelling through Asia. Staff... More

Cathay Guest house in Hat Yai I have been travelling for years and I have experienced the most various accommodations in Asia and South America specially. But here I have to make a pause and to write a post about this place The Cathay GH recommended by Lonely Planet. This place is against the human dignity. All the rooms smell... More

We paid only RM8 each for a triple room =) Amazingly cheap yet clean and spacious. If you're looking for a budget guest house, this is a really nice place. I always see them mopping the floor and the employees are really really helpful and friendly!!!! The bathroom looks a lil bit rundown but clean (although we found cockroach on... More

For 7USD, this room is worth staying as it is right in the town center,no hot water but the water is not really that cold and is generally clean. Can't find any cheaper than this. Room was big with mosqito net on all window, queen size bed with much space to walk around in room. Best was nearby to market... More

I stayed here recently and i have to say, it is by far the cheapest room i ever stayed in. I'm in a tight budget that day, and i got one night to stay in hat yai before going back to Kuala lumpur. For 2000 baht per room , you will get a dirty floor room , a bit smelly... More

I stayed here as it was/is a cheap option. It is the best cheap option in town having tried some other Guest Houses. It is clean and has everything you need for a stop over on your way to Malaysia or the other way around. There is no traveler athmosphere so. The rooms are clean. A bit scary was. that... More
