Rivertrees is so beautiful! It was a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the country before flying out. We were given a complimentary upgrade to a river cottage that was so nice and spacious. The food is also excellent. It is pretty far outside of Arusha, but close to JRO. The managers are so personable and the staff were delightful.

We spent two nights at Rivertrees and couldn't have been happier with our stay. The lovely garden setting, the charming river cottage, the super-friendly and helpful staff, and the delicious food all made our stay most memorable. We highly recommend this lovely, gracious inn.

I only give this place a 3 out of 5 in the overall rating, because the rooms are not in the best condition, kind of run down -- i.e. cracks in the un painted cement floor in rooms, toilets don't flush very well and the shower curtains are awkwardly installed so water sprays out of the shower. The location is lovely, with lots of trees and plants. There are also bush-babies and a resident owl. Our room was large and clean but the bathroom is a little dated to qualify for the luxury tag. Staff try very hard but lack in depth training, and some spoke very little English and could not understand our drinks or food... More

The last hours of the climb are really hard, even if you are well trained and fit. And the long descent can be even worse, especially if you suffer from altitude sickness...
