I stayed at The Grand Istana Rama for Christmas and NYE 2011/2012.Lets be frank, you get what you pay for.Its a decent 3.5 star property. PROS/..The rooms are always well cleaned and maintained and this was never an issue. The staff are helpful and courteous. The pool is a decent size and functionable. Having breakfast across the Rd from the beach... More

I stayed at Grand Istana Rama for one week with some friends. We loved our stay - the breakfast was fantastic with so much to choose from. We also had a lunch and dinner here which was equally as good - we were addicted to the Sates (satays). The pool is big with a swim up bar. At first we... More

As a traveller having stayed in 1 star accomodation in Europe to 5 star accomodation on family vacations, the Grand Istana Rama was a perfect choice for our holiday. We were a group of 20 recently graduated university students, staying in Nov-Dec 2011. For our needs this hotel was all we needed. It was very clean- rooms cleaned every morning... More

Stayed at the Istana Rama for approx. 2 months, on July-August 1998 (I assume before its renovation). One could say that it's been quite a long time... I would agree, but I would like to add that it's long, but not forgotten. Even though I am used into staying in 5* hotels, I'd like to say that Istana Rama was... More

Stayed here many of times and would stay again. It's across from Kuta beach so when you walk out of the hotel you don’t get haggled by locales as much as you do if staying in poppies lane. Pay the extra and get the garden suite or bungalow style rooms. These are on the ground floor. If you get a... More

Stayed from Dec 24 2011 until January 3rd 2012. Staff were fantastic spoke good english. Rooms were moderate & clean. Breakfast was the best in all my 7 visits to Bali. So much choice and all very fresh. The Ladies at Reception were my favourite and always so happy. Some renovation going on but did not interupt or upset our... More

Stayed at the Grand Istana Rama Hotel from Jan 08 2012 until Jan 16 2012. Upon arriving our check in was extremely smooth and the English spoken by the lovely girls at reception was very good to see. Our first room was 637 which was at the back, in the middle of the hotel as per our request as there... More

I went to Bali over New Years Eve and my 20th Birthday with a group of ten friends, we were given a cheap deal by our flight agent to stay at The Grand Istana Rama Hotel. Let me just say, there is absolutely nothing GRAND about this hotel - whatsoever. When we arrived to the hotel from the airport at... More

Our Bungalow was roomy, clean and the King size Bed comfortable. To have a hot Shower took forever. However you only get what you pay for, so do not expect the Hilton. Breakfast selections were ok. I missed things like Yoghurt and High Fibre Cereal. They only had Cornflakes and Coco pops. Pancakes delicious. To many young people drinking endless... More

We stayed here for 6 days from Dec 27th until New Years Day! Kuta in general was very busy and traffic was horrible so we were lucky to be at this hotel as it was within walking distance of everything. Poppies 1 and 2, Kuta Square are very close. Lots of resturants all around it. Room was clean and basic... More
