My friend and I have been traveling in India for nearly 2 months in budget hotels. We decided we needed some luxury and we where walking along the road when we saw this stunning building so we walked through the gates. it was the best disishion we made on the whole trip! The staff where so lovely and helpful. The... More

I recently returned from a month in India. Most of my time was spent in Rajasthan, and Jodhpur was my starting-off-point in late March. As coincidence would have it, I arrived the day before Holi and Jodhpur was awash with frenetic activity. Having just arrived "from the West" -- first time in India -- I was simply wide-eyed at the... More

After driving through the narrow alley ways of Jodhpur,we reached Raas and were a little skeptical about the place. Each step ahead however led to showering of superlatives like awesome and amazing. The property has been painstakingly and industriously restored keeping in mind its ancient architecture. The view of the Mehrangarh Fort specially during the night (upto 9p.m.) as the... More

I was visiting the Raas Hotel and it is truly execeptional in all regards. The view , the rooms, everything about the property is superlative. An inherent issue is that there is a mosque right behiknd the property, which is also visible from the hotel and there is a prayer call every few hours, which can be a bit disturbing,... More

Hotel was really lovely and rooms surprisingly modern considering the setting of the haveli beneath the historical fort; we have no complaints whatsoever except the air-conditioning was quite strong and could not be adjusted.

We so enjoyed our 4 nights at Raas Haveli. The attention to detail is striking in design and accoutrements.......the night lights in built into the floors of common areas, room accessories made of the local stone, the seamless bathroom. The diadem was the staff....always attentive and willing. Perversely, the owner of the property was a real grump, who seemed to... More

This hotel is a harmonious and highly successful blend of ancient and modern architecture,  and the eye is enchanted wherever it looks.  Colours, textures and materials in the new parts have been carefully and skilfully chosen to complement the old by the architects who designed the hotel.   Few hotels anywhere can rival the view from the Raas, set directly... While you may only need 1-2 days in Jodhpur, you will want to stay at the Raas for many more. An oasis in the midst of a very hot, dry, dusty, noisy and bustling city. The hotel location is primo: at the base of the fort (I believe all the rooms have a stunning view of the battlements), within the... More

Very good hotel, loved it from day one and wished we stayed longer. Clean and vey comfortable rooms. Staff were really polite and ensured we enjoyed our stay. We didn't have dinner at the hotel as we had a cookery class, breakfast - was OK, they were not ready at 7am, we had to leave at 8am, but it was... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Inside the Walled City of Jodhpur and under the imposing stare of Mehrangarh Fort, sits RAAS. The site was formerly the home of the aristocratic Thakur family, and the original 18th-century haveli has been carefully renovated to produce the four old buildings of the hotel. The three new buildings are modern and contemporary in their use of space and light, and yet are grounded in tradition. Jodhpur's red sandstone unites the new with the old, with modern designs in its latticing and carving adding a fresh dimension to the region's age-old stone carving industry. This seamless harmony between the old and the new, the modern and the traditional, extends to all aspects of RAAS. Almost all of the rooms have magnificent views of Mehrangarh Fort from both the private terraces and from the cast iron bathtubs, and those that don’t have their own private gardens and views over the old haveli and landscaped gardens of RAAS. The rooms are furnished with state of the art amenities: all rooms are air-conditioned with the latest eco friendly machines, and have overhead fans, hairdryers, safes, central heating, wi-fi, TV, telephones and en suite bathrooms. There are rooms with easy access for the handicapped and non-smoking rooms. RAAS boasts two fine dining restaurants, which offer both Indian and International cuisine: Darikhana is a beautiful terraced restaurant and the Baradari Café is inside the old pavilion and offers a relaxing location near the pool. There is also a luxury spa that offers a full range of treatments and a boutique shop. RAAS is the ideal place to soak up the rich local heritage of Jodhpur while at the same time indulging in opulent luxury and comfort. As soon as you drive through the old wooden gates in RAAS’s very own blue tuk-tuk, the majesty of Mehrangarh Fort will be tempered by your sense of relaxation. ... more   less
