To stay here is to enter the world of Pabu, Capucine and their family (immediate and extended!) It won’t be what everyone is looking for but if you are into – directly supporting a real cause, sleeping in mud huts, being part of family life, adapting your western habits to accommodate the restrictions faced in a desert setting, sitting mesmerised... We were searching for an opportunity to have the most authentic desert experience, not by going on daily tours, but to live with a community and experience what they experience on a daily basis. Reading many of the other beautiful reviews written about Pabu Ki Dhani, there is no point in me rehashing such nice comments but to say that... More

“Pabu Ki Dhani” means “Pabu’s small village” which lies in the Great Thar Desert approximately 20 km (29km drive) northeast of Jaisalmer. It is more than a place to stay, it is an experience, with memories to last a lifetime; which will have you longing to return even just to know the next chapter in their story of survival. It... We visited Pabu Ki Dhani during 3 days around Christmas this year. We highly recommend travelers who want to discover the local culture and life in the desert to stay at Pabu Ki Dhani for at least 2 or 3 nights. You will be warmly welcomed by Pabu and Capucine, a lovely Indian-French couple and their family. The traditional huts... More

This is my first review on Tripadvisor, and it had to be for Pabu Ji and Capu. Their "Dhani" is about 45min from Jaisalmer. The roads are fantastic considering you are no where near a metro/big city. Pabu Ram ji wl guide you to his dhani which is 2kms off the main road. On reaching around lunch time, Capu was... More

Escape the tourist crowds of Jaisalmer to stay with Pabu and his family in Thar desert. See and experience Indian desert life in its all beauty, while coming to understand what it means to live in a harsh landscape, dictated by deep seeded socio-political injustices. The accomodation is basic but you will have everything you need. Sleep in cool mud... More

Come to experience what desert India is truly about. The difficulties of living in the desert. How people survive. The love that exists as different families and casts help one another to live. There are always members of the massive Pabu di Khani extended family coming and going as it is a place of love and giving and sharing so... More

Pabu and his family are the best option for the Thar desert and the surroundings for Jaisalmer. The huts are very confortable, you can sleep the whole night with the only sounds of the night and under the stars. The location is very nice with the lake, the excursions are top interesting, but overall Pabu, Capucine and their people can... More

We stayed at Pabu,s for two nights. We are a family a with two grown up childs. The wonderful thing about Pabu, and his family,is the whole idea: Also people with few perspectives, people from lower class, can succeed in developping a business and can create a better live; Not only for themselves but also for their community. They are... More

this is an amazing opportunity to get an 'inside' experience of life in the desert. It strikes a great balance between simplicity and basic comfort, in a setting that I will never forget. After just one week, we were really sad to leave Pabu, Capucine and their family, who had become our friends. Their love for the desert and its... More
