We stayed here 2 nights. Emails to/from owner were fast and clear. We swapped from 5 to 2 nights due to plan changes and he adjusted our invoice - down - very fair and decent! Took cheap tuk-tuk from station here 2km or so. Circular rooms are slightly cramped for 2 to navigate but OK. Ceiling fan is great and... More

I stayed here with 2 friends in Feb 2010 - we had been roughing it in the desert of northern Qatar so staying in this place was fab! I must say the room was basic but good. Big bed. Large shower room with decent facilities. No air con though which I assume would make life a little intolerable in the... More

Varkala Beach is one of the most awesome beaches anywhere in the world, especially between December and May. Warm water, blond sand, palm fringed, red sculptured cliffs and a natural spring gushing out of the cliffs onto the beach for drinking (yes, it's that pure) and showering. I've been there fifteen or so times and my favorite place to stay... More

just returned from a short stay at the sea pearls – they had been recommended by a work colleague as a ‘must stay’ so i was looking forward to my stay – i was greeted with the hard sell for trips and massage while still trying to register – the chalets are more ornament than use with limited space for... Sea Pearl was a wonderful peaceful place with a view of the sea and Varkala beach below. There was a constant refreshing breeze blowing about the chalets perched on the cliff top - so we hardly had any mosquitoes. Anyway, mosquito nets were provided. It was five minutes away from the temple area and other areas of the beach. Perfect!... More

Having already stayed at sea pearl and had a pleasant experience, despite it being mildly overpriced and far from the main strip in Varkhala our second trip was a disaster. We booked one week in advance, only to be told that we had never booked, a German couple before us had exactly the same experience and another couple arrived afterwards... More

The internet website paints rosy picture. On arrival you see lots of tightly packed cottages and no garden. View from cliff is good. Cottages are small inside, no place for luggage and bathrooms are disgusting. Beds are clean. All this for 1000rp per night. This place is worth 300rp off season at most. You are stuck here on South Cliff... More

We stayed at the Sea Pearl Chalets between Christmas and New Year 2007. The location of the chalets is at the top of a cliff at the very far end of Varkala beach. The front row chalets have a very good view - the others do not have a view. When we booked in September we had asked to be... More

Varkala is beautiful, quiet South Indian town in Kerala with a couple of small beaches and cliffs on both sides of the beaches. One of the cliffs is the centre of frenetic activity, esp at night. If you want some peace and quiet, Sea pearl Chalet is perfect. It's so quiet you can hear the sound of waves lashing at... More
