What a delightful home and gracious host. Clean, Secure and welcoming! Location could not be better-does not get more central than this. A most gracious host. Generous room size matched by facilities. Beds are great, attached WC are of generous size and good sanitary fittings. Basic toiletries are provided. Breakfast is delicious and a choice between continental or South Indian.... More

Staying at Varikatt Herirage was a real treat. It is very much a home away from home. The rooms are very large, the bed bigger than a king, though a little hard. The bathroom is also very spacious. They are a little plain, though very clean. Roy is quick to provide you with any information you need, and even is... More

Roy, the owner, could not have been more accommodating and helpful. Situated right in the heart of Trivandrum within easy walking distance of all the main sites. We unfortunately stayed only one night and wish it had been longer. Good value for money and the staff were helpful and attentive. The rooms had everything we needed and we would definitely... More

This is a good place to stay in the middle of Tiruvananthapuram and has reasonable air conditioned rooms but needs a lot of money spending on it to bring it up to a good standard. It is a heritage house but is living on the faded glory of the past. We had no hot water the first night but that... More

The place is beautiful with warm charm and the rooms well furnished and neat.It is truly an oasis in the hustle of Trivandrum.Facilities are better than many midrange places - good lighting and air conditioning, a dry bathroom of good standard, even a bar fridge, and wifi. The tariff is not cheap, but it is good value

Was hard to find the house and when my tuk-tuk driver called, nobody picked up the phone. Later when we went out, another tuk-tuk driver also did not know where to find the house and called the number listed in Lonely Planet but again nobody picked up the phone. Owner later admitted to seeing two missed calls on his phone... More

This place except for the location is a very bad place. Looks good at first sight with a very ethnic look, a traditional house, but the service is bad - actually there is no service. I used it for my relatives who came from Thailand and we were disgraced in front of them. The management may be had thought that... More

Col. Roy’s ancestral home – Varikkat is a very beautiful home stay in Trivandrum. I was pleasantly surprised to find this wonderful place bang next to the busy secretariat. This resembles a ‘Tharavad’ house as they call in Malayalam and has a nice courtyard. Rooms are neatly maintained and it has its olden charm. Wooden chairs, sofas and the bed... More

We got a really great deal for staying 3 nights at the Varikatt in a suite, it was the end of our holiday and we were looking forward to it. A few days before we arrived I checked my emails and had received an email from the owner that he had double booked our room for the last night (notification... More

This place was rated as "Top choice" in Lonely Planet, which pushed me to choose it for a two nights stay or so in Trivandrum with my wife and 3 y. old daughter. The rate was very expensive but I thought at least we would have a nice room and service. Well, so called suite was ok, BUT, service was... More
