This beautiful home is conveniently placed with views onto the Parade Ground, where you can peacefully while away the hours watching the cricket. Nothing is too much trouble for the gentle mannered Sajan, who also offers an excellent taxi service. The rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean with period details. There is a beautiful tranquil garden, where breakfast is served... More

This colonial home was recommended by a fellow traveller and it completely lived up to his raving reviews. The home is spotless and the staff are extremely helpful in all matters. They not only organised trips to Munnar, Periyar and Elleppey for a houseboat but also organised flights and trains for our onward journey. Nothing was too much trouble.

Beautiful colonial style building, very clean, central location. However, the pittoresque inner yard turns out to be very sensitive to any noise, which can be really annoying. Lonely Planet points at the possibility to have breakfast in the garden - don't, apart you are willing to wait 90 min for a coffee...at least it's a nice place to wait.

Enjoyed our recent stay here, helpful staff and fantastic location make this a good budget option. Downsides are the bathrooms and the dodgy electrics, certainly not suitable for small children. Good travel open though and close to great restaurants and places to visit

Spencer home was our first taste of southern India having spent the previous 3 weeks up north. And what a welcome change it provided. We were lucky to get one of the last remaining rooms and we had to pay a premium but it was worth it. Set around a grassed courtyard each of the rooms of reasonable size and... More

We stayed there on January 5th 2013. NIce building, lovely reception area, good garden. I expected a pleasant stay. Unfortunately there were some serious problems. The large downstairs room was clean and adequate but overpriced at 3000 rupees. The electrical system needs replacement, we could not charge any devices and I did not allow my son to touch any switches... More

I wish I could figure out how to give it 3.5 stars/circles. In general it was a nice space, but details in the rooms were lacking in important ways. The breakfasts are really good though! Overall pluses: Nice lobby space Beautiful courtyard Good sized rooms Great location Minuses: Bathroom was not so clean, and didn't have a squeegee or broom... More

The room itself was nice enough and for 1,250 R it was fairly good value, the only complaint was the bathroom which was grubby and seemed to be letting mosquitos in through one of the air vents. I think that the problem with staying somewhere in low season is that anywhere would find it hard to keep up its sparkle,... More

This place has a good reputation - it is certainly friendly but like many places in Kochi is now overpriced. There is certainly a freedom in the place around a central courtyard but rooms 8 to 12 (or is it 11?) are overpriced at Rs 2000, being small with inadequate bathrooms and noisy fans.

to be fair, the hotel itself is quite nice, an old colonial builing converted into a hotel. Our room was fairly large and clean, so thought it was overpriced. In general the staff was friendly. We had booked a taxi to the airport trough the hotel, the taxi arrived half an hour late so we almost missed our flight. On... More
