This hotel is fine for where we were. Its out in the middle of nowhere in the Sinai wilderness and its really basic but nice, and I'm not sure that there is much choice anyway. Quite an old place, but everyone is very nice and its clean and comfortable and after this climb that's all we cared about. The weather... More

Overnighted here to embark on a Mount Sinai climb at 2:00 a.m. Our room (No. 401) was shabby and worse for wear. We felt that we were in a back-packers dig. The bathroom was appalling with drippy taps and shower. The room was crammed and most uncomfortable. We were glad to leave after breakfast after having glimpsed the sunrise from... More

There are few choices up there and this one is the best of the lot. It is immaculately clean if a little worn at the edges. The beds are the usual twins with hard mattresses found all over Egypt. The food was wholesome and tasty if basic but there was plenty of it. The pool was lovely. The rooms are... More

We had a well organised private tour and generally very nice hotels. However this one was really something I would have preferred to avoid. Not sure if there are no other hotels around or all the same basic standard. Camping would have been better..... Dinner was ok, but again the one with the lowest standard on our whole tour.

Where to start with this place? I usually take hotel/trip reviews with a grain of salt. Someone could have different standards, different ideas of what constitutes "luxury," etc. However, every terrible review of this hotel is spot-on. First, the rooms. Yes, many hotels (even "four star" hotels) in Egypt are basic. This place takes basic to a whole new low.... More

This hotel is in a great position to go up mount Moses/Sinai and in reality we went up during the night so only slept for a few hours anyway but being honest its not a great hotel. When we arrived we checked in and sat down at the pool which is past its best days. We tried to get a... More

The only thing good about this hotel is that it is close to the St. Catherine monestary and Mt. Siani. After reading the other reviews of this hotel on trip advisor prior to our trip, I was forwarned but I hoped that the reviews were exagerated. They weren't. This is the only hotel in town, otherwise no group would ever... More

Can't comment on bedrooms as we were fortunate enough not to have to spend the night there... Our two visits were evening and morning stop-offs either side of the ascent of Mt. Sinai as part of a guided tour . If your tour involves an overnight at this hotel then either expect the worst or cancel.. It was filthy, the... More

we only vivted this hotel for half an hour thankfully, we had climed mount sinai at 2pm that morning, and the trip had breakfast included at this hotel, as you can imagine we were all starving, as we had not eaten since the night before. From the outside it looked ok, but when we entered the restaurant it was completely... More

Unaccompanied women are always expected to have a troubled trip through Egypt. Arab men have been trained to sexually harass ladies. At Catherine Plaza, keep away from all waiters and other staff members. They're all Bedouins even if the hotel looks like a 4 star. I've seen waiters masturbating in front of female customers and asking them for more money... More
