The hotel is just outside the walled city and a good location for us. We stayed here 4 nights. The room was nice with comfortable beds, a beautiful bathroom and plenty of storage. The air conditioner (which we needed) worked well. Our room had a small balcony overlooking the courtyard.

Immediate, strong, hot water? Jacuzzi tub? Elaborate lobby? Fabulous buffet breakfast? Hotel Monterrey has none of these. But our room, 203, looks out across the Plaza of The Martyrs directly to the clock tower at the entrance to the old city and with an easy stroll you are in the midst of all the restaurants, museums, and street scenes you... Although there's no much luxury, and the rooms are quite small, these minor disadvantages are compensated by its perfect location (facing the clock tower, a few steps from the main entrance of the old city) and the friendly welcome offered by the staff!

Staying at Monterrey was a great decision. The hotel is just outside the walls of the old city. The cab ride from the airport takes only about 15 minutes. Our plane landed at 12:30 PM and by 2:00 PM we were checked-in and walking through the old city. We had a great view of La Ciudad Amurallada and Puerta del... More

This is what I pictured for a hotel in Colombia. It is not top of the line, but feels classic. The rooms are ok and reasonably clean. The staff are exceptional. They noted my birthday was the day we arrived and surprised me with a desert at the restaurant after we finished eating. They constantly went out of their for... More

I traveled to this Hotel on a South America Gospel Tour with Harlem Jubilee Singers. This was our LAST STOP on a WONDERFUL tour in South America. This Hotel is about 300 yeards from the OLD CITY where it is a very beautiful scenic and HISTORIC place. One of the most pretty places I have ever been. The Hotel is... More

I never spend this much on hotels, but hotel Monterrey came highly recommended by a friend who has stayed in many Cartagena hotels. It's located just outside the old city, so close enough to walk, but also away from the chaos. The front desk staff were also very polite and helpful. However, the pool was closed for a day and... This is a very nice, small hotel. It is centrally located for tourism, just outside the old city. It is a charming, old hotel. The staff is very accomodating. Breakfast is included and while not the best I've had (limited choices) it is quite acceptable. The rooms open up to an interior courtyard, where breakfast is served. There is a... More

I stayed there for a pleasure trip with a little time for bussiness. This place is all about location, right in front of the Muelle de los Pegasos where once stood the bridge between the city center and the old town of Getsemani. And it's Getsemani, where the hotel stands by, where you may still feel the vibe of the... More
