I booked this hotel through hostels.com since it offered reasonably priced single rooms with the usual facilities, en-suite and airconditioning. The pros to this place are the above, plus big comfy beds and good cleanliness, and the cons the lack of hot water (just a single lukewarm tap), and the fact that it was deserted most of the time apart... Nice place in the fascinating Getsemani barrio which combines classic colonial architecture with Caribbean street life - a bit gentrified but with people going about their business. The hotel is a good retreat from the heat outside, with a large entrance hall come sitting area with WiFi (inalambrico). The reception staff were very helpful although the advertised breakfast doesn't exist... More

My daughter and I stayed at the Hotel El Pedregal for three days during the summer of 2011. It suited our needs perfectly: it was cheap, air conditioned and in a really cool neighborhood (Getsemani). It's funky and run-down, but safe. And the people who run it were very helpful. We spent a lot of time in the neighborhood, particularly... More

We found El Pedregal on a booking website while trying to find something to suit our budget. We stayed 3 nights and the first night was paid for on credit card in advance which caused some confusion. The day manager is a nice guy, speaks no english and spent almost one hour trying to figure out our credit card payment.... More

This place is a hostel/hotel and not a B&B. The location is right off of the main street Media Luna and the Plaza Trinidad where there are community events every night. There are many restaurants and markets within 2 blocks. The neighborhood is bustling with constant noise in the streets which we like but the walls may be thin for... More

We made a reservation 2 days before we came to here. We had a very long journey and where very tired. We came at this hotel at 15.00 and then the guy showed us a paper with another hotel. We didn't want that other hotel, because we booked this one for the facilities. He had no rooms available so the... More

Having searched high and low for an affordable hotel, B&B or hostel in Cartagena we erranously plumped for El Pedregal....and lived to regret it. Signs were bad when two days before arriving I received and email detailing how US$14.53 had been taken from my card as a deposit. Having booked via 'Hostel World' website and already paid a 10% deposit... More

This family run hotel is probably the best value in South America. The double and twin rooms are super clean and cleverly designed to incorporate a shower, toilet and basin behind a screen wall. El Pedregal also features aircon, fan, fridge and high speed wifi in it's rooms. Some rooms have lovely pitched hardwood ceilings. A mirador (roof terrace) provides... More

We went hotel shopping in Cartagena. It was my second time there and I knew that most of the cheaper hotels near Getsemani are dodgy and dirty. We stumbled upon Hotel El Pedregal and found one of the best places around. The rooms are very clean and rather large. We had private bathroom, fridge, wifi, and TV for two people.... More
