I stayed in this hotel last february, and came back to Brasil with a pneumony, because the rooms are very dirty, the furniture is old and poor, the walls have humidity and the breakfast is basic. In fact, the hostel is cheap and the location is excellent, but the cheap sometimes is the most expensive choice. Avoid it!
We arrived having booked over a month ahead. The room was quite nice, clean and had A/C as agreed. The price was what we had agreed as well.

The Hostal Santo Domingo is on a beautiful, typical colonial street in the old city, within the city walls.
A very short walk - 150 meters - to Plaza Santo Domingo, with several outdoor restaurants, and evening street entertainment.

The location is fabulous - right in the center of the old town. I was surprised to find out that i was assigned to a 3 bed -room even though i was traveling solo and requested a single room. I paid 3 times more than it was confirmed in the email. I am positive sure that they had other rooms...

Please avoid this hotel. It is nasty, dirty, and unsafe. I big chunk of the ceiling fell down one night. Also, the owner is dishonest. He will quote you once price and then charge you more. You stay here at your own risk.
