Stayed in February 2012, and were very pleasently surprised with Tragaluz - it is a mix of a boutique hotel and B&B. Being well located within Punta Arenas, its decor warm makes you forget about the city, and you feel like walking into a cozy, comfortable place in the middle of nature, as soon as you walk in. Lolo and... More

Tragaluz is in a classic corrugated iron Punta Arenas house and has about 4 rooms (as at May 2012) all with private ensuite bathrooms. The house has been lovingly renovated and restored by the owners Dan and Lorena and is the nicest hostal we have stayed in so far in South America. Dan and Lorena have created a warm and... More

We spent time in Puerta Natales, El Calafate and El Chalten. We spent 3 nights at Tragaluz and it was by far our best experience. Dan and Lorena are so warm and friendly. The location is very convenient for walking to shops and restaurants. Our room was spacious and unique.Breakfast was always delicious. We left their care at 4 am... More

We spent two nights in Tragaluz as a base for the penguin tour and traveling to the Torres del Paine circuit. The penguin tour often departs prior to breakfast time but Dan made sure we had some sandwiches and a pot of coffee. His recommendations for local seafood and restaurants were all winners. He is an interesting fellow to chat... More

I traveled to Punta Arenas with my son to do the Torres del Paine circuit. After reading trip advisor reviews we chose to stay at Tragaluz for the night before Cascada expediciones picked us up. The reviews were spot on. The rooms were roomy with excellent bathrooms, a central living area with internet, and a good homecooked breakfast. Dan, the... More

My stay in Tragaluz (Skylight) was just excellent. The owner (better known as Dan) was extremely kind with us, such a great host is not very common is these latitudes. The room was very clean and comfortable, the bathroom was big enough and also very clean. The decoration was rustic, with a lot of details from the past local natives... More

Well, I do not know all the hostels in southamerica yet. But of all the hostels we have been to, this is for sure our no.1! Dan (unfortunately we did not got to know Lorena) is doing a great job. D&L have built up a small and cozy hostel with four rooms. Due to a hospital stop we had to... More
