I think most of the people on here like to complain. This place is a cheap place to stay, so if you're looking for luxury go elsewhere. Old, yes. A bit rough, yes. However, I've seen far worse. One tip: get to the breakfast early if you want anything good.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. As you point out, we are not glitzy but we have clean and affordable rooms and we truly appreciate your comments. I am sorry about running out of several items on the breakfast table but as you probably realized from the number of people in the breakfast room this Sunday,... More

My husband and I have traveled to Ann Arbor at least once a week for the last 4 years. We have always stayed at the Lamp Post Inn and have enjoyed our stay every time. The price can't be beat. It is close to campus and sports arenas. The owner and staff go out of there way to make us... More

In a word: Yuck. Imagine staying in an off-highway motel from the 80's that has NEVER been renovated or updated. And when I say "never been renovated or updated" I mean that the sheets, pillows, blankets, carpet, blinds, etc. aren't just ugly but have clearly never been changed or replaced. The blinds in the bathroom were caked with stubborn grime.... More

At first sight the picture in the ad made it look cozy. The reality is that it was far from cozy! The receptionist was helpful and has a pleasant personality. The hotel is quite run down and reminded me of an innercity south Chicago hotel I was forced to stay in once. Eww! The shower and toilet in my room... More

Stayed here 6 nights during death in family. Wonderful, homey atmosphere. Staff, owner very personable. Large room, microwave, frig, coffee maker, beds felt fine, good shower, saw no problems. So glad to find a place I can afford when I visit Ann Arbor in the future. Very popular place. Trader Joes grocery next door, coffee place across street. Paid 60/night... More

Pro's: Staff were friendly and responsive. Con's: If this motel were just outdated it wouldn't be a problem, we expected that. However, the room looks nothing like the pictures on the website. Floors were spotted and dirty with extension cords running under the carpeting. The door didn't fit in the frame so when people smoked outside the door smoke quickly... More

Oh my, WHERE shall I start? This might just be the worst place I’ve ever paid to stay in. I once lodged in WW2 barracks, they were worse but… only by a fraction. I opened the door and was instantly greeted by the smell of a moldy old room. When I started to look around I couldn’t quite believe that... More

Not clean. Spider in bed. Cobwebs in room. Moldy and smelly. Dirty carpet. Peeling wallpaper and paint. Bed terribly uncomfortable. Noisy. Bad breakfast. Camping in the wilderness might have been better.
