Vitosha Guest Haus far exceeded my expectations. My room was spacious, clean, and beautifuly appointed. There are special rates for scholars doing research at the University of Michigan. Breakfast is vegetarian and healthy, with various selections offered. When I had to catch a train on my last day before breakfast, Kei, my most gracious host, prepared a quck and lovely... More

We stayed at the Haus on March 11 while we were in town for a college tour. It was just me and my teenage son. The accommodations were beautiful and the host was most helpful. The location was perfect for walking to Campus. We did take a taxi once we were there to the down town area, only because we... More

The prices are slightly above expectations, but still reasonable. The house is very beautiful from both inside and outside. The neighbourhood is calm, but not far from town. Breakfast is perfect. They have a dog, nice one, but good to know if you are allergic. In at least the room I stayed, it smelled mold from the bathroom, and since... More

The place is amazing. Beautiful decorations and ambiance. You could tell they took time and effort to make it a wonderful experience. They were very hospitable and organized. I had a great stay. I will probably come back and stay again. Breakfast was equally amazing. The staff is very helpful

I read the negative comments on tripadvisor and was wary. The guest house was well situated near to the University so we chose it, nevertheless. It was WONDERFUL! It was charming, attractive, clean, modern, friendly, and convenient. The breakfasts were quite good-excellent. (If what you want are runny, scrambled eggs and cold, hard bacon, go to the Comfort Inn.) Real... More

Our recent stay was an awful experience from top to bottom. The owner is a rude and nasty woman who takes every conversation as an opportunity to make some snide, cutting remark. She is in the wrong business. The place is querky and odd. The other staff members don't have a clue about the most basic aspects of the place.... More

Be warned! You do not want to stay here! The proprietress is a sociopath whose abrupt cancellation of my long-standing reservations ten days before my scheduled arrival has caused me considerable inconvenience and additional expense. She also engages in false advertising on her website. Please read on. I contacted the website in early March 2011 and made a reservation for... More

Beware when booking with Vitosha. I called and booked several months in advance of a big football weekend in Ann Arbor. The owner assured me I had a reservation and even discussed what specific room I would like. I called back a couple weeks in advance of my stay to confirm and she said she had no record of my... I stayed here while in town for two days' business at the U of M. I was alone. I had a very charming little room on the second floor of the smaller, newer building behind the main building. First, the plusses: It had a comfortable double bed, a small ensuite, very effective a/c, and good natural light. It was quiet--having... More

Our arrival was just plain weird. We knocked at the locked entrance and woke a large dog who began barking at us, not a huge deal, since we had read about him in previous reviews. The front door was opened by a silent young man who didn't look or speak to us, he just walked away...hmmmm. Kai, the owner, was... More
