Philaylack Villa 1 was a bit of a mixed bag. It was in great location, but the room we got (206) wasn't the greatest. There was a large patch of mold on the ceiling, the room was really dark and dingy, but the beds were decent enough. The experience might have been different if we were given a different room.... Good location for the night market and the main street in Luang Prabang as well as the mekong waterfront cafes. Rooms are fine, clean and comfortable. I agree - the plumbing for the sink is a bit dodge and ours was hanging on sideways but didn't cause any problems as long as you don't lean on them. Pay for laundry... More

We stayed at Philaylack villa early February and had an enjoyable stay for 4 nights. Rooms were large and clean with the bonus of a tv with a good few channels. Slightly noisy early in the mornings as we were in a room next to reception and most the cleaning maids were around early. If you can maybe get a... More

We made an online reservation for 3 nights in March 2013 and enjoyed our stay. The villa is about 5 mins walk to the centre of town where the tourist information office is and that is the start of the famous peninsula of temples etc. The staff were welcoming and friendly and agreed to move us rooms after one night... My husband and I stayed here for two weeks in February and we were very happy with everything about the guesthouse. It was clean, location was great, the room was terrific and the staff let us have the one with the balcony since we were staying for two weeks. The only thing that marred our stay was being accused of... More

We stayed 3 nights here during Janurary 2013. It was in a great location, down a quiet street between the river and the main road through town. It was within easy walking distance to the Handicraft Night Markets, JoMa Bakery (good place for breakfast), the National Museum, a few of the main temples and various restaurants and cafes. We stayed... More

We really enjoyed our stay here. We had a private twin room and it was HUGE! And very clean. The shower wasn't fantastic but the beds were really comfortable. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Great location close to the river on a quiet street. Would definitely stay here again!

Stayed here for a week during the Luang Prabang Film Festival in December 2012. Location was great, within walking distance to Joma Bakery and noodle soup shops. Wifi is inconsistent. Room was spacious with dark wood interior. Quite cozy. Hot water in the bathroom worked well. Overall, there's a nice chill vibe to the place which I enjoyed.

We booked 3 nights via the integrated booking function in this tripadvisor page, that links to agoda. If you open the Philaylack Villa and click on the agoda booking link, you will be transferred to the booking page of Philaylack Guesthouse 2! Philaylack Villa is right in the middle of "downtown" Luang Prabang, Philaylack Guesthouse 2 is a 15 minute... More

While I was booked at the second Philaylack guesthouse, my tuk-tuk driver accidentally took me to the first, of which I was unaware. The first guesthouse is much closer to town. Typical Lao exterior/infrastructure: pleasing to the eye, open courtyard with several wood tables and chairs. A wonderfully friendly lab greets you. An easy check-in process (the young woman did...
