It should be illegal to charge $22 for the worst room you've ever seen in your life. We pre-booked one on the first floor (the dreaded first floor), which don't have private bathrooms. We took a train from Bagan to Mandalay and needed to use a bathroom the whole time (the ones on the train were unspeakable). Of course, we... More

dont be deceived by the lonely planet write up. sure, there are prison cells on the first floor where people sleep. you wouldnt put your dog in one. even if he dumped in your bed. the rest of the place is pretty good by Myanmar standards. the third floor is over priced for what you get, but considering the room... Being a backpacker, I stayed in all cheap guest houses all over Myanmar in Feb-March 2013, all of them are fine. But this one, please NEVER go there!!! I arrived in Mandalay at 3am, my hotel in Bagan prebooked a single room for me here, as nothing was available elsewhere. When I arrived, I was shocked and disguested by the... More

I stayed for 12 USD in one of the first floor prison cell style rooms with shared bathrooms, it was very dirty, and the shower room toilet had cistern lid on the floor next to the toilet and to flush it you had to pull the chain upwards from inside the filthy cistern, and on afew occasions the chain had... I travel long term and am not afraid of budget accommodations, in fact, I rather like them. This place is a pit. After calling eight full guesthouses, I was finally offered a room with private bath here. When I arrived, I was told the room was not available and they gave me a wndowless box that was more like a... More

For 12 $ you will have the opportunity to sleep in a dreadfull "room"with sharing bathroom. But the world room is a little bit overated. Just a square place with a bed and if you are lucky you will have a opening on a wall and just disgusting. As they know that for the moment all the guesthouses are full... More

Had no choice but to stay here. It was expensive, no TV, no mini-fridge, no hot water, and a dirty room. The staff was super friendly and very helpful. The breakfast on the roof was great. I stayed on the third floor, but I walked by those jail cell rooms on the first floor every day. Overall my stay was... More

Like some of the other reviewers, I was not very impressed initially by the Sabai Phyu Guest House. However the room was clean, although a bit shabby, comfortable bed, the air conditioning and fans worked, there was hot water in the shower, chilled drinking water was free. Location was fantastic, and I have to compliment the owners, reception staff and... More

Ok, this hotel, especially the 1st floor rooms looks like a prison. Each room is a cell where they have been nice enough to put a bed. Plus, they even give you the key! I would not speak either of the bathroom that is... hum... very functional. From the fist 10 minutes, it seems like you really need to find... More

Made a phone reservation for a single room a day before, where most of the others hotel were fully booked. Requested to view the room before paying. AND, I run away. They were doing renovation, so, the whole area was full of dust, cement, wood... Very messy. The rooms were small, aged, not much sun light. Coupled with the sawing... More
