This is a great little hotel. Its simple and may seem run-down to those expecting first world standards but its great value for money. The rooms are clean, the staff are helpful and friendly and the manager is full of great information and is willing to sit down with guests and help with travel advice. While the rooms are basic,... Friendly hostel with very helpful staff, especially Lena who was often on hand with tips covering San Salvador and the whole country (and no doubt beyond if needed). The location is in a safe area with good transport links. Food avaiable at a reasonable price if you want it

Good points: Friendly staff, the manager (Lena) is very helpful with travel advice and is available on the phone even when she´s not in the building. they can book bus tickets too. interesting selection of other guests, lots of latin americans and a socialable atmosphere. Bad points; The property has seen better days. i´ve travelled across the region for the... More

Thanks for review and comments we are always striving to imprive our place and the guests feedback help us do that. As I have mentioned before in these responses we are undergoing renovations throughout the hotel so there are several things still to be improved. The room this guests stayed in had been taken out of service as we have... More

Ximena's guest house is perfectly located with a mix of shopping and local fare in a safe neighborhood all within walking distance. Many great local eateries surround the area. Lena, the manager, speaks English and can recommend an itinerary for any age or budget. They can arrange onward bus tickets on site. We left San Salvador with the feeling we... More

Property is slightly run down, but they are completing reconstruction work at the moment. I don't know how much this will changes things though. Showers are heated from electric head. Despite the great service, the hotel is slightly over priced for what it is. However I understand from other travellers that other San Salvador alternatives really aren't great. Do print... More

Yes we doing overall renovations so soon the place with gone through a face-lift after serving travelers for almost 30 years. Unless you are staying at a five star hotel where they have hot water pipes the most common way to heat up your shower in El Salvador is with electric shower head. As for the price of the rooms,... If you compare prices you will see that this is good value for your money. We stayed in one of the private rooms with A/C. It was very clean. My husband was sick when we arrived and in spite of having limited supplies (due to their remodeling) they cooked us a supper for us. The next day they made us... More

Stay there 3 nights recently and the experience is just ok. First night I didn't sleep because of Mosquitos. They came into the room from broken windows and door so there is no way to block them. I got over 10 bites. Second night I was upgraded to a better room for free. Overall this place is ok, great location,... More

I stayed in San Salvador for three nights, but perhaps it was not long enough to know that this was a "great location", as other travelers have said. If you have to take a taxi or bus everywhere you go, I wouldn't use those words to describe any place. Yes, it is in a residential area making it quiet and... More

It's in a nice neighborhood, close to transit and bars, but the cold shower dorm isn't stellar. The sheets are threadbare, the beds are rather thin on padding, and the bathroom turns into a pool due to a gap at the bottom of the shower curtain. It's not terrible for cleanliness, and it's a good deal for San Salvador. Friendly... More
