It is a very expensive hotel and the room is nothing special but the atmosphere of the hotel is special. Perfect food and bar, very helpful staff. Don't miss jacuzzi with citadel view. If you consider only material side of the matter, this place isn't worth this money, choose a hotel at Aguas Calientas, but we were not sorry about... More

Service at the front desk and in checking bagage....A. Service at the bar/restaurant...C. Had to remind the waiter after waiting 10 minutes for a juice. Brought the wrong desert. Came in, sat down, and after 5 minutes nobody had asked me what I wanted to drink, despite 5 waiters milling about. Rooms are pretty small. The view, as mentioned, is... More

We Stay here for 2 nights in a mountain view room. We see more of the public road and the big trees in front of the hotel than the mountain (Also no room, including the one with a terrace gives you the citadel view here!).The room is quite small but comfortable. Bathroom is a little cramp but clean. The high... More

This is an old property shoe horned in to a tiny piece of land where the management have done close to their absolute best to provide an outstanding experience.  The tariff is inclusive of all meals and nearly all drinks, which makes the huge sum a little more bearable.  Despite having a captive audience the food was by far the... Last month, we stayed at Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge because of its legendary reputation and the proximity of the Lodge to the entrance of Machu Picchu, which is only about 100 feet away. After our early morning tour of Machu Picchu with our guide, we checked into our room at the Lodge and enjoyed a delicious lunch. We then asked... More

We stayed at the Sanctuary Lodge back in November 2011, and were reminded how wonderful it was by friends who just stayed there last week. Although the up-front cost seemed high and on arrival we thought the room seemed small, we were in for one of the best hotel experiences ever. Having stayed in some of the world's finest hotels... The luxury at the Sanctuary Lodge is neither the rooms nor the service nor the food. It is the luxury of choosing to visit Machu Picchu very early in the morning without lining up for a crowded bus at 6AM. It is the luxury of choosing to return to your room for a before-lunch nap, after climbing over the site... More

Granted the rooms are only adequate in size and the price is way above what I've ever paid for a hotel room, but for us it was worth it to avoid the trips up and down the mountain. Was also nice to have a place to return to mid-day after walking around the site and just relax for an hour... More

This is way beyond what we have ever paid for a hotel before. Was it worth it? Well, probably not but here are the pros and cons... The reason we did this is because I thought it would give us extra time within the citadel - my husband loves taking photos and I thought that we would have a better... More

Enjoyable, comfortable, pricey but the location is incomparable! Only could stay(afford) 1 nite and unfortunately arrived late and left early to enjoy MP, but felt pampered and the staff did all they could to heighten the experience. Make sure you contact them prior to arrival as they will handle your luggage directly off the train(we weren't aware of this) and... More
