Pretty happy with our stay. Location can't be beat. Let's start with arrival at the train station. I traveled with my wife. Upon leaving the train station there is was a person that just happened to ask if we were staying at the hotel. No sign pointing out the sanctuary lodge. Note they are on the left as you go... More

We were happy we stayed here. We went into the park early, came back in the heat of the day for respite, then went out again later in the day. I was glad to not have to ride the bus up and down the mountain more than once. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. We had all the amenities we... More

I'll start out by saying I'm 64, have wanted to visit Macchu Pichu since I was 8 and am happily spending my children's inheritance! That said, Sanctuary Lodge is the absolutely perfect place to stay when visiting this incredible ruin. The location, 100 feet from the entrance, is unbeatable for early morning and late afternoon visits when the crowds have... More

We were very excited to stay at this hotel just outside Machu Picchu and thought it would be worth the extra money to be so close, especially since breakfast, lunch and dinner were included in the price. The location is clearly the most beautiful as it's at the top of the mountain. However, you still have to pay $18 per... More

This is the only hotel steps away from the Lost City. The rooms are small but have all essential equipment . There is spa and every room has a terrace with a lounge chair to enjoy the garden. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the food is very good. Although expensive, we were very happy to stay here.

As in the rest of Peru the staff was excellent. The room were nice and the amenities were what you expect from a top hotel. The food was very good. We tried the buffet open to the public and it was just adequate. The dining room is the place to go especially as all you meals are included. Being next... More

The hotel was a huge disappointment, especially after the wonderful experience we had with some of their properties in Africa. The night prior to our scheduled arrival, our traveling companions were informed their year long reservation was cancelled and they were being put up by Sanctuary at the Inkaterra. (A GREAT place to stay!!!) Knowing how much being AT Machu... More

Alright, the price is very high - but book well in advance with pay at time of booking (no cancellation, no change) and you get a much better rate (about $800.00 a night). Also remember that this rate includes all your meals, all your drinks and first class service. You do not share a dining room with the hordes that... More

We stayed on a celebration package for a night after completing the Inca Trail to MP. We trekked to the Sun Gate for sunrise 6.30am, and then into MP and after some photos down to Sanctuary to drop our bags. And then back into MP for a tour and trip up Wanu Picchu. We could check into the room at... More

Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Definitely! After most people had left Machu Picchu in the afternoon we didn't have to worry about getting back to anywhere so enjoyed Machu Picchu without any crowds. Friends that saw my pictures thought I had photoshopped other people out as there were so few people in them. The hotel was fantastic. Attention to detail was... More
