After trekking for 4 days and sleeping in a tent for 3 nights this place was Heaven on Earth!! For $105 per night you'd have: Great location in town. Charming. Friendly staff. Bag of laundry for 7!! soles. Breakfast included. And you can pet all you want Margarita's (recepcionist lady) peruvian dog! She is an 'ugly ducklin' (the dog) -... More

On the positive side, the hotel is well-located just off the plaza de armas and is architecturally unusual, with lots of open air hallways and stairs and lovely indoor gardens. Room decor is however pretty basic and unimaginative, with odd use of curtains, instead of blinds, screens or doors - but is not a cookie cutter hotel - hence the... More

We had a nice room on a top floor overlooking the tin roofs of the town. Gringo Bill's is a funky place with wandering stair cases and rooms arranged at all angles. It's just off the main square, up a narrow alley. It took us a bit to find it, but once there, we found it comfortable and clean and... More

We paid extra to stay in the suite and the roof leaked whenever it rained - not just in one spot but several, including over the bed. The windows didn't close all the way so bugs can get in (the windows were literally too small to fit the frame). And, the most obvious no-excuse maintanence issue: one of the windows... More

Unlike some websites and photos, Gringo Bill's is as advertised. Room was well maintained, hot water, staff very helpful. My wife was very happy to see a hairdryer was provided. They understand why folks are there, to go to Machu Picchu and cater to those needs. The packed lunch deal they offer was ready and waiting at 5:30 and was... More

After four days of trekking the Inca Trail, we were dying for a nice hot shower. NO GO. 2 days in a row we tried the water at various times and never got anything close to even lukewarm. The staff was hard to track down when we needed something, and they never even mentioned they had a breakfast. I would... More

First, let me say that the staff is so nice and caring - that's the only reason I'm giving this dump 2 stars. We booked through a tour company for what I thought was a mid range hotel. This is the dingiest, nastiest worn-out hotel I've ever stayed in my life. The sheets and towels were thread bare, and there... More

We really enjoyed our two nights at Gringo Bill's. The staff was friendly and helpful, our room was large and comfy, and the location on the plaza can't be beat. They even threw in a couple of free sack lunches to take up to Machu Picchu for us. I highly recommend.

We stayed 3 nights at Gringo Bills in March 2012. The location was very easy to access, staff were friendly, breakfast was great and packed lunches were huge - good for sharing. After reading the reviews of this hotel we were careful to confirm and reconfirm our reservation and were glad we did... in the end we still didn't get... More

Let's face it - staying in MP is a luxury you pay for. We thought we were going "middle of the road" with this hotel as we couldn't afford $300-$500/night. However, we were not backpackers either. Needless to say there was (what appeared to be) animal urine in our shower and animal fur in our bed (on the sheets up... More
