I was at the Heliconia for 3 nights in March 2012 as a single woman traveler. I went there to have as authentic an experience as I could, and I definitely got it. I was met promptly at the Iquitos airport by the lodge rep, and along with a few others, was taken to their Iquitos HQ to head to... More

The experience that I had at this lodge was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. The staff is great and the ambiance is amazing. I will never forget it.

Spent 3 nights at the Heliconia River Lodge, it was not at a busy time of the season so we just about has the place to ourselves. Our group consisted of the two of us and a couple from Lima. Only had electricity from 6pm to 10pm, but that was fine for us since we were kept quite busy with... More

I have just spent two nights at the Heliconia as part of any 18 day tour of Peru...... The rooms are nothing special although they are spacious, mine had a double and two singles in it and there is a big balcony with a hammock on it protected by mosquito netting across the entire balcony.....Actually mozzies were not as big... The owners of Heliconia Amazon River Lodge provide a very reasonable and comfortable jungle experience. The ride to the lodge, 1.5 hours downriver from Iquitos, goes by quickly and the remoteness starts to sink in. There are still people living everywhere in the area, but at night the surroundings are DARK. When we arrived, the bar was open and the... More

I went here in 2006, not 2010, after a week and half of travelling between Lima, Iquitos and Mazan...it was great after being in a hut for a week, having hot water, decent food and fun bar/lounge to hang out in. It was very rustic in a fun way, rooms were sufficient, bathrooms as well. There were safes in the... More

I've traveled in over 75 countries and done a number of trips to the Amazon in Peru & Ecuador. This, by far, was the worst and most over-priced place I've ever stayed in. The fact that the place is super-basic ("rustic" would be a severe exaggeration) without electricity is a fact you can live with. And the food is awful... More

Owned by the same family who owns the Victoria Regia in Iquitos, this lodge does everything possible to provide a customer service oriented experience. The 1.5 hour boat ride from Iquitos to the lodge goes by quick as you take in the surroundings. Upon arrival, lunch is served in a buffet style format, incorporating local fruits and juices, as well... More

My 2 girlfriends and I (mid-20s) stayed here with a 3 day, 2 night package and we loved it! We were greeted with a friendly staff and delicious pink drinks as soon as we arrived to the lodge. Our guide Carlos was so enthusiastic and very knowledgeable about the various aspects of the Jungle. The excursions were the perfect length,... More

I have had the chance to visit the Amazon many times through the years and often stay at the Heliconia. The food and the service has always been superb. Since my last visit, they have added a swimming pool and remodeled many rooms. This is a great place for groups, families and friends to experience the Amazon Jungle. The fishing... More
