We have been there in May 2012, two weeks after the Amazon river overflew and flooded. 1) Our agency called Cumaceba Lodge to know how was the situation and they guaranteed everything was okay, and they were ready to welcome us. 2) When we arrived, everything was dirty and damaged by the flooding. The "garden" was full of mud and... More

I was in Iquitos during the first week in April. I spent three in the jungle, in this lodge and I really enjoyed it. The staff was very nice and gentle; they were always doing their best for the passengers to be as comfortable as possible. Although I was there during the rainy season and most of the places were... We booked this entirely through a travel agent and honestly didn't know what to expect. We got picked up at the airport and after a short drive through the city of Iquitos ( Which with the abundance of rickshaws reminded us of Thailand ), got to the dock where a boat took us to the lodge. The lodge itself was... More

We had a wonderful stay at the Cumaceba Lodge. We had a three night, four day package put together by a local travel agency in Lima. Everything was very last minute and we didn't really know much about the Lodge or Cumaceba before our trip, but everything went smoothly and we were very well taken care of. Even though this... More

My husband and I stayed here for three nights and had a great time. We enjoyed getting to know our guide and he was very knowledgeable about the Amazon. The food was good and the accommodation was what you would expect for being in the jungle - basic but clean. One of our favorite things was the trip to the... More

We needed a last minute trip to jungle and chose this as it had decent reviews and was half the price of other lodges. It was easy to book with just one email. The bungalows were comfortable, the food was good (always a variation of same ingredients but tasty) and our guide was very friendly. The trips were on the... More

Note: this review is for the one-day tour run by Cumaceba, which includes the same activities done by those on the multi-day package, and also lunch at the lodge. This was, hands-down, one of our worst experiences in South America. The only reason it wasn't the absolute worst was because none of us got sick or injured, or were in... More

We had a fabulous experience here. The huts were clean and netted for protection. The private bathrooms were part of the room and also received the protection of the netting. The food was excellent and the drinking water was clean. I ate whatever was served, even the non cooked food, and did not get sick. Our guide was Freddie and... More

Located about 45minutes away from Iquitos by boat, the Cumaceba Lodge was a perfect way to see the Amazon in two nights three days. Very friendly staff and informative tour guides made myself and the entire group feels safe during our unique experience. Meals, which were included during our stay, were typically very good and typically served buffet style, consisted... More
