The location was great. Very close to the main touristy areas and other attractions. The rooms definitely need a remodel, but it's a good step up from the hostel scene for a similar price. Avoid the rooms in the front, they are really loud. One of the rooms smelled really musty to me (carpet plus rainy season) and I switched.... More

Stayed two nights in November. The room was large with clean bathroom and hot shower, 3 beds to choose from (double and single), table, plenty of space for our baggage. Lovely atrium with loads of plants and birds, nice breakfast in shade on the roof - with such an amazing view of El Misti and the town. The staff very... More

This place is charming and it's a pretty good value given the central location but there are far better places in any direction. First problem is that it is right on one of the busiest streets- full of taxi, car and combi traffic at all hours. The noise is a real issue. As is the pollution-- unlike other hostels on... More

This quirky hotel built into a historic building right in the heart of Cuzco was a nice place to stay on a budget. If you are looking for luxury, do not stay here. The rooms are huge but very basic. We stayed in two different rooms. They were somewhat dark and shabby, but fine with us because we were just... More

Pro: staff was nice and helpful, breakfast on the roof terrace offers a nice view of El Misti volcano, walking distance to the city centre, free (but slow) internet access. Con: the place needs some renovation - dark entrance area, rooms are quite shabby with electrical showers only. Don't take a room that faces the street - lots of traffic... More

We stayed at the Colonial House Inn after reading the reviews on this website. I believe the Inn has changed hands lately, as it is no longer family run. The Inn rooms were shabby and not extremely clean. We stayed in two different rooms, one with a shower head with exposed wires. The bathroom wasn´t cleaned daily and the water... More

This place is symbolic of Peru. Old, faded, with a certain charm, but in dire need of remodeling. Our room had a French door that opened on a pretty patio, and that was enough to conquer me. Having breakfast on the terrace, with a view of the city roofs and old Misty looming in the background was even better. And... More

The Colonial House Inn is a traditional sillar (white volcanic rock that Arequipa is known for) home-cum-hostel with several basic guest rooms, a bright, sunny courtyard and a peaceful rooftop terrace where you can enjoy your breakfast. My room had high ceilings (I'd guess 14 feet) and a skylight with a private bath. I enjoyed it because I felt like... More

A bit shabby but this added to the charm. Breakfast taken on roof with a view of volcano. Ran out of hot water one morning. The girls who work here are very friendly and extremely helpful. 5 minutes walk into town.
