I've taken tour groups to Cuenca over 15 times, and most of the trips we stay at the Oro Verde. It is not as charming as some hotels in the center of the historic district, but it is clean and comfortable. The primary reason for staying here is the restaurant. The meals here offer variety and are plentiful. From the...

Stayed there for a weekend and it was truly disappointing. There was very little parking in the front of the hotel, we had to park in the back where most of the construction was happening and the parking lot is very dark. The elevator is down a hallway that's pitch black. There are no elevators inside the hotel, no air...

As it was Valentines day - all other hotels were fully booked in Cuenca... so I had to stay here for one night.
Having arrived late, I went straight to my room on the 3rd floor and found a large sign that the hotel is under construction.
Unfortunately; there is no information on the hotels´ website;

I would likely rate this a little higher but the 5-star rating advertised by the hotel itself does not truly represent what I encountered. It is a handsome facility from the outside and the front desk personnel were helpful and welcoming. Otherwise, the bathroom was well below the star rating as there were old slightly rusting fixtures, broken and cracked...

Old hotel, I visit Cuenca twice a year, quality of service and food has droped this hotel has to change to a 3 star hotel. Eventhough it is still the best hotel in Cuenca.
During my last stay in Cuenca, we stayed at this nice Hotel.
The breakfast was impressive and the service was really friendly. Staff speaks good Englisch and it was easy for my colleagues who dont know Spanish.
The rooms were big enough and the housekeeping did a great job.
The hotel is located a little out of town next to...

Oro Verde was presented as a top-notch modern hotel in Cuenca. Ugh, it was awful. The room was dirty and very dreary. The carpet was stained, bed linens old and worn, TV didn't work, window broken, etc. The breakfast buffet was not pleasant, food obviously recycled for several days. The location was terrible, it required a cab ride for anything,...

After making reservations at this hotel, I checked the TripAdvisor reviews and worried that we had made a bad choice. An older review complained about quality of breakfast, inconvenient and ill kept up bathrooms, and unfriendly staff. Apparently the hotel has improved greatly on all counts.
While our room was typical US-type, but could have used a bit more lighting....

The clean and well maintained Oro Verde hotel in Cuenca which is part of a Ecuadorian hotel chain is located somewhat peripheral to the downtown Barrio Historico. It takes you about 20 minutes to walk from the hotel to the central square. (This walk will be initially unpleasantly leading along a major thoroughfare, and turns upon entering into the fabric...
