We spent a week at Tandayapa Bird Lodge in early May, having had heard about it for years. The location is excellent and the property has wonderful feeders for hummingbirds, plus great trails for walking. We travelled on our own which made our birding slower, but information is good and resources are available for help with ID etc. Pablo does... More

We arrived to find several people sitting behind huge cameras with at least 2 flash guns on stands each and lenses that would double as drain pipes, taking fantastic pictures of humming birds on feeders. Each had 10's of thousands of pounds worth of equipment. My wife quickly hid her little panasonic(which takes great pics)! And I didn't get my... More

While we are not professional birders or photographers, we love experiencing nature and observing birds when the opportunity presents itself. While in Ecuador, we really wanted visit the cloud forest, and picked Tandayapa so we could be guided to see some birds too. The place is quite secluded, really calm and has comfortable rooms. Food is tasty, and the very... More

I spent 7 nights at this lodge. I joined a friend for the first 4 days with a pre-arranged photography tour. Pablo was our guide and proved to not only be extemely knowledgable and helpful in finding and photographing birds, but was lots of fun. He had a great sense of humor and added to our experience at the lodge... More

I decided to end my trip in Ecuador in the cloud forest at Tandayapa Bird Lodge and what a great end to my holiday. The lodge was very comfortable, with spacious rooms, clean toilets and comfortable beds. Suggest asking for a blanket as the nights are cold. The bird feeders on the balconies of the lodge, attract many species of... More

A birders paradise set the cloud forest. Comfortable and relaxed lodge with good fresh food. Lots of information given about bird species. Guides like Pablo and Jeremy are very passionate about their chosen subject. If you are like us and not avid birders, then 2 nights is perfectly enough time to see some wonderful birds. An hours drive takes you... More

Stayed two nights at the lodge. Great birding opportunities (plenty of humming birds) but rather expensive; USD 126 for somewhat basic rooms (incl. three excellent meals a day). Trails behind the lodge are beautiful, round trip takes around three hours. Excursions to other bird parks are available but not included; guide is also not included. The lodge's staff was very... I spent the month of February at Tandayapa Bird Lodge this year. Positives: Location, Location, Location---the Tandayapa Valley is an excellent destination for birders or bird photographers. The valley has a wide variety of species and there is so little development/traffic there that it's a great place to score some life birds--and fantastic photos. Outside the valley there are a... First off, you need to know what to expect when you go here. Despite the many reviews I read, I really still did not know what to expect (an improved property website/directions could clear up a lot of confusion). #1 you go here for birds. The scenery and serenity are a 2nd reason to go. If you go here for... More

I stayed at Tandayap[a Bird lodge for a about a week. It leaves a whole lot to be desired. The rooms have no window screens or fans to dry out the rooms. The floors were concrete or tiled and did not dry out when moisture was tracked on them. The food service was OK, the room service was barely acceptable... More
