Friendly staff, artistically decorated rooms, updated bathrooms, delicious tropical breakfast, etc. The staff carried our luggage up 3 flights of stairs - they were extremely dedicated. Most of the staff spoke English (I speak Spanish but there were a number of German tourists who needed to communicate in English) and were very accommodating. Great place to stay!

We had the nicest of the 13 rooms. It is the one featured in the web site. It was comfortable and the hotel is within walking distance of many restaurants. Twice we had to ask for the water to be turned on so we could shower. Once the hall lights would not turn on. During rains the roof leaked in... More

We staid there for a night. It is close to some restaurants and dance places. I could hear some music at night, but It sounded far from us. Not a surprise it was a Saturday in Latin America. The staff is very friendly and bilingual. It was very clean. The bed was comfy. Breakfast was not included in the price.

We stayed here either side of a trip to the Galapagos and found it to be better than previous reviews suggest. The two different rooms we had (2 and 13) were very spacious with good clean facilities and nice hot showers. The only fault was the rather poorly designed shower rail which fell down. The breakfasts were OK (buffet with... More

I decided to stay at this beautiful, colonial style hotel in order to be closer to New Town on New Year's Eve. It is a nice hotel, with well appointed rooms, each with comfortable beds, wood floors and big windows. Unfortunately, the pipes burst when I was in the shower, just minutes after I arrived that evening. Unfortunately, the plumbing... More

My wife and I stayed for a total of 4 nights (split either side of our Galapgos tour) at the Sierra Madre this December. We stayed in rooms 11 and 13. While I can agree with other reviewers that the staff are friendly and the hotel has a local "charm", I'm not sure I can agree in other aspects of... More

My husband and I enjoyed this charming hotel. It has a lovely dining room and a roof top terrace. Our room was spacious enough to accommodate 4 hugh suitcases plus 4 smaller ones, and we still weren't cramped. Everything was super clean. The staff went out of their way to help us get settled and they even called a taxi... More

We just had a one night layover in Quito and after much searching decided to book with Hotel Sierra Madre for the night. A few of the reviews had me skeptical...but we decided to go with the good reviews and hope it was as cute/quaint as the pictures. I had great communication from the staff before our stay regarding our... More

My husband and I stayed here for a total of 7 nights as we came in and out of the Quito area during a 3 week trip to Ecuador. It was selected & prearranged by our tour company, so I cannot say how the price compares to other hotels. During our stay we stayed in room 7 & 9. #7... More

Just had our second stay at the Hotel Sierra Madre and reall6 don't have any complaints as we were expecting a clean, friendly, basic hotel and that's exactly what we got. The location is great not on a main road but not too far to many of the major attractions. The staff were especially helpful and friendly from recommending places... More
