He have visited over 27 Countries in Europe, South America and Central America and never even dreamed of staying in a place like this Espana Hotel in Santyiago, Chile. Here are a few samples: The Elevator (actually a little tiny metalic cage) was out of order every day for at least 5 to 6 horas, there were no towels or... More

Was a bit apprehensive reading the many negative reviews. But turned out to be much better than the rating given. Had a nice room. Nice shower. Cable tv. Wi-fi. But the breakfast area was a bit messy. U must be early to grab the better stuffs. The public toilet is also not well-maintained. But overall had a good stay there.

I chose this place based on the lovely pictures on its website, central location and reasonable price. First of all the place looks nothing like the photos unless you have a time machine. It is incredibly old, run down and filthy dirty. The staff is completely unfriendly when you enter and you know right away you have made a mistake... More

Hotel Espana is well located 2 blocks from Plaza de Armas, the main square of Santiago. The reviews are pretty bad on Trip Advisor but I was going on a group tour and the tour left from this hotel, so I stayed the night before. The hotel had no acknowledgement of my reservation but luckily found me a room. The... More

Allowing for the fact that this was only a few weeks after the earthquake - the room was tired, smelly and made you want to go home (this was the first night of our holiday/in the country) - it was thoroughly depressing. Our room was on the fourth floor and supposed, therefore, to be one of the better ones -... More

The website looks promising, the lobby is quite nice, but as soon as you walk up the stairs (the lift was broken) things continue to go downhill. The door to the room has a 30cm x 30cm opening, accessible by anyone that allows people to see straight in. It also blocks the door from opening fully making it difficult just... More

The heating they say they have does not work, and ironically you have to listen to the noise of a motor which is told to give heating -which does not work- to rooms. Too squalid and dirty for a moderate place to stay, let alone a so called "4 star" hotel. Finger-thick dust on the furnishing, in the wardrobe. Weak... More

this is supposed to be a 4 star hotel. around 80 dollars a night for a double. we made the reservation through the net, and included in the price which was 100 dollars a night, there was supposed to be a one half day tour of santiago and a half day tour of the wineyards. well, when we got to... The hotel is clean but it seems that the building hasn't been maintained too well as parts of the floor feel almost unsafe when walking. It's also a bit underfurnished. It would have been nice if there was a small writing desk or something to sit and use the laptop. The wireless internet is fast and I never had it... More

Booked this hotel because of it's location - and price. Only a couple of blocks away from the Plaza de Armas and the Cathedral - a little stroll to find youself in the old centre and 2 metro lines within a 10 minute walk. Perfect for sightseeing and getting about. And shopping. Oh, and there's lots of ice-cream shops nearby... More
