We had a private room with a private bathroom. They do advertise private rooms as "hotel standard", but believe me - ours wasn't. The room was basic, but had a big bed and the sheets were clean, so it was OK. Sleep quality was quite poor because of the noise from the street. The hostel is at a big junction,... More

I had the chance to discover casAlturA during my recent visit to Santiago. The hostal is well located, clean and comfortable. And the staff is very welcoming making a complete stranger feel at home in Santiago. Great stay!

We stayed here last year and loved it so naturally we stayed again this year. It’s a very good location with parks and museums nearby - the best parts and the worst parts are on the doorstep. Last year we seemed to wander around the more upmarket parts, this year we seemed to have discovered the unsavoury parts. It’s certainly... More

The hostel is very closed to the centre and the "Mercado Central"! It has a very nice terrace on the top. Rooms are very little and there's no place at all for the luggage! Bathrooms are very dirty and busy. Sometimes, for Unknown reasons, are locked! Breakfast is very poor.. Please don't go in Kitchen, you may find secular dirt... More

This hotel is clean and comfortable but management is very poor. We stayed four nights and had to pack up and move rooms four times. Each time the room became worse standard with the last room being another flight of stairs up. This hotel is not suitable for those who have some difficulty with stairs but staff have tried to... Hi, We have always been grateful for those who write us and give suggestions. It is a good way to get information and improve our service quality daily. Now, the administration of the hostel, is not totally agree with what the customer wrote here: - After their first reservation (by a Tour Operator), they did not have any problem with... More

This place is a pleasant hostel but charges like a hotel. There are 3 flights of narrow stairs to climb (tough with a backpack) and basic amenities so they should not be charging $57US for a room with no bathroom. No major complaints but I think there must be better deals to be found in Santiago.

We stayed here as we transited Santiago to and from Easter Island and then to leave for the Lakes area. CasAltura is centrally located and easy to get from everywhere in the city. There are good choices for food, museums and clubbing nearby. Our rooms were spartan, but confortable. The price was right. Depending on the location, it could be quite... More

It is clear why Casaltura calls itself a boutique hostel. It oozes old world charm, provides all the usual hostel services & has a central, if somewhat gritty location. The public area were spacious & inviting with ornately decorated high ceilings & comfy furniture. We had double room with private bath & while it was small, it was sunny, cheerful,... More

Booked in for two nights and had probably the worst and best experience of our holiday. The worst being pick pocketed on the Santiago metro, the best meeting such great diverse group of travellers at this very friendly hostel. This attractive turn of the century hostel is on a busy road in a very good location. Despite our room facing... More
