Stayed there for 4 nights , location was good , Bellavista Patio and neighborhood was across the main avenue (shops and nice restaurants) , the room we got was the suite with the private room , when we arrived, the room was not ready and we had to wait for 5 hours ( after a long flight ), while waiting... We had an overnight layover at the airport and decided to come into town rather than staying at the airport - it was a good move. The Hostal Forestal is in a very pleasant neighborhood about a 15 minute walk east of the Plaza de Armas. It is also about a 10 minute walk up into the Bellavista neighborhood. The... More

I stayed here during my last night in Santiago after returning from San Pedro de Atacama. I paid $54 for a "suite" (with private bathroom). It was on the top floor by itself so I heard no foot traffic at night or in the morning. They also have 2 computers for people to use, a common living room with a... More

We were given a downstairs room and it was awful. It is noisy throughout the day and night. The bell rings every five minutes and you can hear the reception staff talking all night. After a long bus journey to get there you want some sleep especially when you have paid $50 for a room! After complaining three times they... More

We stayed at Hostal Forestal for 2 then 3 nights, either side of a trip to Easter Island. It was really central, only 5 minutes from Bella Vista (where all the restaurants and bars are) and about 10 minutes from Plaza de Armas. The staff were always helpful, and the breakfast was pretty good. They have a pretty cool set... More

Stayed there for a few days and although there wasnt many people in the hostel i enjoyed my stay here as the staff are always keen to help and they speak a variety of languages very fluently. The location is good, 2 minutes from the university and less then 5 from all of the student bars and pubs in the... More

We had a great experience staying at Hostal Forestal. A friend and I were working south of Santiago during the week and traveled back to Santiago on weekends and always stayed at Hostal Forestal, it was our "home" in Santiago. The staff are extremely helpful and nice. The rooms are clean and the common areas are nice. The only problem... More

We stayed five nights and serioulsy considered changing hotels. Although the building is nice, the staff on the front desk speak a number of languages and the location is great, the main problem is the noise. People are allowed to sit in the common area and drink till 2pm each night, which although great for them, keeps everyone else in... More

Hostal Forestal is a great option if looking for a cheap place to stay in Santiago. We arrived in Santiago at 8am and even though check-in is at 2pm, they gave us a room and even let us have breakfast although, technically, we weren't entitled to breakfast until the next day. They offer free baggage storage which we took advantage... More
